Thanks jca I did just that and a TDA rep walked me thru the whole process. I only transferred 1 equity to the new acct and it should anchor me for the data source. I talked w/ 4 different reps thru the process and was truly impressed by their awareness of the situation and how supportive they were.2 points

Yes, AccountValue is there. So is Cash (Cash Buying Power), OvernightBP and bunch of other stuff1 point

just made it so if DOM main quote source does not support LULD, it will get updates from the main stored symbol, which gets data from Portfolios/chart, so if that has LULD, it will show and update1 point

@Adventures In .NET I use dxFeed exclusively for all equities data both L1 and L2, extremely delighted by the speed and data quality. The cost for indices is still too pricey for me and I don't trade based on them, so free TD Ameritrade feed is sufficient. Coming to trading, I have margin accounts with TDA, IBKR, and TS day trading in each one. IBKR has the fastest executions, best short locates, highest cash interest rate, and most relaxed about violating buying power overnight. They have higher margin/maintenance requirements for some common equities though. I really like the extensive order types as well, like Market/Limit on Close. IBKR and TDA do ad-hoc wires in/out so you don't have to wait all day for your money. Never needed to call customer service. TDA and TS are executions are a bit slower than IBKR, but with the SMART route and $0 commission you get what you pay for. One great thing about TS is the extensive routes and order types which really helps target liquidity to get in and out of positions quickly/easily. TDA has horrible short locates, only can get the big tickers; TS has a short locator which is better than TDA but not as good as IBKR. Cash interest rates on both are lower than IBKR. TDA has lower margin/maintenance requirements and gives a lot of time to correct violations. TDA customer service is pretty solid if you call during the trading day. Two things to watch out for with TS - they have a really early wire cutoff and batch their transfers at the end of every day, so if you need your money fast don't count on it. The last and most frustrating is TS's disaster of a margin department, they will set your account to closing positions only constantly; even their own people don't know what's going on (they are also mean). The best advice I can give you is either use your account for day trading and liquidate each day or use it for long-term swings always holding overnight, but never combine the two. To that end, the MT team has done a spectacular job integrating the above providers/brokers and the anecdotes above are that of the providers/brokers themselves and not MT. Hope this helps!1 point

Yes. you can use one source for Level I data (which is same as what charts use) and another for Level II. Not a problem.1 point

Sure. Open the alert editor On top left, click the ARROW on the ADD button and select FILL ALERTS. Select what you want there - you can pick accounts, or select buy, sell, etc.. In the notification area select that you want to be notified by sound NOTE: you will want to set the alert to auto clear after 10 sec or so. Otherwise, once triggered it will not trigger again unless you explicitly clear it.1 point

Sorry, I didn't see your post earlier. Below is an image with a short position on symbol "ALT" (-370 shares in the MT positions tab of the Account View window showing an entry price of $13.4343). The actual entry price was $13.51 as you can see in the ATP window on the bottom left. Note the ATP positions window on the bottom right hasn't shown the position yet, so its nice that MT shows something so you know your trade went through, you just have to get used to looking at the ATP orders window to see your actual entry price....it comes through immediately in the "status" column there. (It takes a bit of time getting used to this once you start trading with Fidelity via MT. Turning on an alert sound for trades in ATP also helps.) Notice in the image taken about a minute later, the ATP positions window on the bottom right has finally filled in. It can show quicker sometimes or take quite a bit longer....sometimes I've closed the position before it ever shows up. The MT transactions tab in the Account View window will show the correct amounts.1 point

The May transition is expected. We just got the API stuff last week. we are working on it now. Seems that we have plenty of time before May. There should not be any issues and we will have the Schwab integration well before then.1 point
-
Thank god! I just got an email from Schwab that I will be switched to them from TDA on May 10. Still might end up moving everything to Fido since Schwab will not allow customers to enroll in real DRIPs that give you shares of a CEF at a discount - that's like stealing 5% of my div money for a CEF like PDI.1 point

0.1% is not a valid thing. You can just multiply... so Ask*1.001 or Bid * 0.9991 point

Hm the preprocessor that sprinkles indexing [0]s on indexed variables fails in this case. Try .fctbNone{ color:#000000; } .fctbStyle7{ color:#000000; }Timestamp[0].Minute1 point

1) sure. FILE / SAVE LAYOUT 2) the saved layout is just a file so you can definitely copy it to another computer. You can load it and save however you like. Loading it on smaller screen would probably require some moving of windows after loading. 3) saved layout only has the window layouts and window specific settings. It does not have hotkeys, portfolios, etc. For that, you can export all your settings and copy them to the other pc and import them there. FILE / EXPORT and FILE / IMPORT for that.1 point

For that you'd have to keep track of the average yourself. Use StateFIFOQueue of the appropriate size (period), zero it out whenever the new regular session starts (use TradingDay variable - the DayNumber in it changes when the new session starts, and you can figure out if you're in premarket or not as well) and add the candle's volume if regular session. Then take its average.1 point

Oops, sorry, you are right. Order type is required in the ORDER action. If you just want to change the quantity and limit price, you can remove the default ORDER action and add a CHANGE ORDER action instead - bottom left.1 point

you can set up a hotkey to send BUY orders at the ASK for $5000 and either assign a keyboard shortcut to it or flag it as a saved order and show it as a button.1 point

There is also an option to mirror the volume instead of price from the middle. Search in settings for price/volume and check or uncheck it. Ofcourse the ability to align the colums left, right and middle would be a great option for everyone!1 point
-
thank you. I recreated it. when it drops it seems to initially drop the capsule at current price, then move it to where your hotkey specifies. That initial thing is what messes things up. Will need to fix.1 point

Today (12.14) "Good Afternoon George, Thank you for contacting Schwab Trader API. We are currently working with Medved Trader and other commercial applications for review, approval, and integration into the Schwab Trader API endpoint. We are in the process of finalizing the documentation so we can provide this to Medved Trader to do the technical integration into the new Schwab offering. There are no further updates at this time. Sincerely, Schwab Trader API Support"1 point

Yay! I can almost guarantee you that MT users griping to TDA about losing MT's API and calling to get their transition to Schwab delayed so we can keep using MT is why they pushed back the conversion date. Sometimes complaining the right way actually works! I also mentioned I might have to transfer my accounts to Fido - pretty sure I'm not the only one who said that and meant it.1 point

Yeah, I figured hearing that would take some of the pressure off. 🙂1 point

When the subject of transferring accounts, API, etc., came up, if memory serves, I was one of the first one's to mention 'Webull' as another source. Please forgive me for mentioning this source. It wont happen again, lol. I have since, reopened another TDA account, and funded it with minimal $, and we are rolling again1 point

Just got a call back from Schwab and they have approved delaying the transfer of my remaining TD accounts until 2024 (didn't have a specific date yet). If you are in the same situation I would recommend calling soon.1 point

Hmm, I've always wondered why the bid and ask move almost the instant I open my trade window. It looks like they see me setting up my trade before I execute it.1 point

once integrated, it will basically be same as TD Ameritrade now. As for new info in last 2 weeks, no not yet1 point

Yes, I know it can be done by holding down shift key but it's not about whether I can draw it or not using line tool. It is about ease of use. Reasons to add Horizontal Line tool to drawing tools: 1. It is a lot easier to draw a horizontal line by a single mouse click vs holding down shift key and drag it to the right and let go 2. trend lines and horizontal lines are used differently. Many of us use trendline with extend left and extend right unchecked so different line settings are needed for trend lines and horizontal lines. 3. Only way we can use Horizontal line tool is to set the Default annotation to Horiz. Line in Settings -> Charts -> General. If we change to a different drawing tool, there is no way to go back to using horizontal line tool.1 point

should get the API way before that. will know more later this week probably1 point
-
that got put on the backburner for the moment. The internal sending of orders works, so would work with API for example, but the doing the UI for it got hung up. Will start again later this fall probably but cannot make promises.1 point

it works if there are no open orders. If there is an open order, it gets an error. Will fix.1 point

The two should match. The easiest way to check is to set Scan value to the histogram's value, and compare the value you see on the portfolio to the one you see on the chart. The problem you're seeing may be a mismatch either in the candle size or in the extended hours between the chart and the scan. Those should be exactly same in order to match.1 point

Maybe is the right time to implement/add a top gainers/losers feature? or integrating the IB scanner via API? I'm suggesting this from years now. Is the only feature needed to add to complete MT.1 point

Is a tool that allows calculating the percent price change between two points in a chart present in MT? I was exactly looking for this. I've seen that when drawing a line this % change is displayed on the Y axis but I would have much more preferred to see it displayed on the line together with the angle........having to look on the very right to see this number is extremely annoying. Thx Elisa1 point

You can, today, utilize paintbars to do indicators that can have as an output: 1. A single line/curve 2. A band (two lines, colored in between) 3. A set of straight lines with text on them To make a full-fledged indicator editor would be hard. Mostly because indicators are written for efficiency, which adds complexity, and there is SO much stuff that can go into an indicator. Even if I do a pre-wizard to generate a lot of the code it is still complicated afterwards.1 point
