Not sure if this is doable or not, but it would be cool if charts could retrieve the position and average cost for a symbol from the broker, and display it on the chart. Just an idea.

#2 solved the problem. Thank you.

I have IQfeed, but I can only seem to download tick data for equities for the current day. The furthest I can scroll back is the opening tick bar for today. Is there a way to enable multiple days of tick data? I don't see anything in the settings.

http://tinypic.com/r/290sk6r/8 I've attached a link, where I have a chart and news window linked. I'm using IQfeed, so I guess IQ is one of the feeds that needs per symbol fetching as you mentioned.
-
yes. It only gets news content for symbols that are already in the news window. But for traders who flip through lots of different stocks each day, it would be handy if the news window could fetch news for any symbol in a linked chart. Or perhaps there's already a way of doing this. Just an idea, thought I'd mention.

SPIKE FILTERING - User Input requested
nasdorq replied to Jerry Medved's question in Feature Requests
If just having +/- X% from the last quote is insufficient, what about filtering +/- X% above the bid or ask. That way gaps wouldn't be an issue as the bid/ask would match the gap in between two prices. -
It would be a bonus to be able to have a news window that can be linked to a chart (or group of charts). And whenever a symbol is entered into the chart, it pulls up news just for that symbol. Right now it just looks like news can be retrieved from symbols that are preloaded into the news window. But for traders who flip through a lot of different stocks, it would be nice if pre-loading wasn't necessary.

My apologies, I had fooling around with the software, but apparently not quite enough. Turns out I'm still figuring out how charts choose which datafeed to use, as I use both IQfeed with IB. I have two porftolios, one for IB and one IQ, and both are linked to the same set of charts. I assumed that whenever I populated the charts from a symbol in the IQ porfolio, that IQ would be the default feed for that chart until I selected a symbol from the IB porftolio. And vice versa. It turns out I was getting backfill futures data from IQ (not subscribed to real-time futures), and real-time data from IB, which explains the 15min gap in data when I would open the software. You can delete this threat. My apologies also for not being more descriptive in the initial post. I'm just exhausted and had a lazy moment.

I'm unable to get backfill data for IB symbols. After playing with the settings, I realized in Settings > Data Sources > Configure accounts, I notice that while backfill and hist backfill are checked, I'm unable to check/uncheck any boxes on there. I'm using the latest version of MT. In fact, you might be able to see the issue in the settings file I sent a couple days ago, for another issue.

I've just installed MT on a new computer. Everything works normally, though for some reason, the only symbols I can seem to get historical chart data is SPY and @ESH15. All other symbols have "No data to chart". I have @ESH15 in a portfolio connected to IB, and several symbols including SPY in a portfolio using IQfeed. I have IQfeed as the default HBF source. I'm using MT version 1.0.6770.1420. I have a feeling its something small, but I can't seem to figure it out. Do you know what this might be?

Hello, I seem to remember QT having a spike filter by % or some other measure. It would be helpful to have a spike filter for prints that are outside of the current bid/ask by a desired amount. I find some equities have a lot of out of market prints, sometimes multiple per minute. Its nice to be able to manually remove with the ctrl+shifh_h/l. But to have to have to keep doing this repeatedly while actively scalping, not to mention the chart becomes largely unreadable until the spike is removed, it makes trading more difficult. Having a setting for filtering prints by either % or $ amount outside of the bid/ask would be helpful. Thanks

Anyone else reporting issues with MT not starting up? I've tried rebooting and re-installing from the original download link I received a while back. It gets about 80% through the loading window and then freezes.

that solved it. Thank you

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have SPY running on certain charts from IQfeed, but I also have SPY in a portfolio using IB, just to activate the IB data feed so I can retrieve IB data for other things like futures. I removed SPY from the portfolio and rebooted but the results are the same. Before I try the suggestions in your first email, do you think maybe its still due to multiple datafeeds somehow?

I've noticed that on a 6 second chart of SPY, using IQfeed data, that there appears to be a volume spike every 6th bar (30 seconds). When looking at the time and sales, there aren't volume spikes occuring. This happens also when the chart has been running for a period of time, not just upon refreshing using historical data. I'm using MT Build 1.0.4898.2147 Here is a link to a snapshot. http://tinypic.com/r/zldz0m/8

yeah I was just looking at the dashboard. My bad

ah, I didn't realize a portfolio window had to be open with IB as the source. I just opened one and now IB is streaming again. Thanks Jerry. cheers

I was using IB along with IQfeed, however IB has disappeared from the data sources list and I can't seem to figure out how to get it back. IB appears in the "configure accounts" section. Is there a way to get it back? Thanks for your help.

the ability to have the current position average price appear on the chart would be a nice bonus. I've seen it appear either as a horizontal line across the chart at the position price, or have color background shading on one side of the price.
