inspired
I'm not sue I have them right, but Yahoo finance indices for USA aren't recognized. For the Standard and Poors 500, I've tried $SPX, ^SPX, ^GSPC, but no go. For the Dow Jones Industrial Average tried ^DJI, $INDU, .INDU, ^INDU Regards
Jerry Medved
the yahoo symbol for S&P 500 is ^GSPC so in MT you would enter $GSPC Yahoo is purposely not returning data via the API for some symbols, like the various DJ symbols Here are the ones that do work. For others that work on the site but not the API, will see if anything I can do later. (same issue with Indian stocks) $IRX $FVX $TNX $TYX $VIX $XAU $NWX $IIX $VLIC $SP600 $OEX $RUI $RUA $RUT $MID $XMI $GSPC $XAX $NDX $IXIC $NYA $TV.O $TV.N
Jerry Medved
the next build should make it so the symbols that are available on the regular Yahoo web page will also work in MT

Jan
Jerry, on a similar subject... You once posted that we could use @ESZ13 to get Futures data. Now that it's 2014, what symbol works? Thanks!
Jerry Medved
you would have to change it accordingly, but the format still works. The current symbol is @ESH14 @ means futures ES is the root symbol H refers to the month (March) 14 is the year I actually fixed it up a bit today to work properly with European futures, like FDAX
Jan
Yep, that's it. Thanks for the formula, and for the explanation, too! What exact symbol do we need to enter for DAX? (I tried the obvious ones with no luck... $FDAX, @FDAXH14, etc)
Jerry Medved
the symbol would be: @FDAXH14:EX but it will not work until the next release

Almighty1
I have a question, where would I find the symbols for the following indices using TD Ameritrade for the quote source? Shanghai SE Composite Index (China) Heng Seng (Hong Kong) Nikkei 225 (Japan) I have tried logging into tdameritrade.com but they don't show the symbols for the indices anywhere. Thanks! Jerry Medved
as far as I know TD Ameritrade does not support those
