sure - your main concern is to get the initial list under the limit of your datafeed. So for example, TD Ameritrade - 1500 symbols. Then you can narrow your watchlist to 1500 symbols or less and use that to scan

32g system should be fine. Vast majority of the symbols are not high volume.

No single source lets you do over 1500 streaming. NOTE: the limit really only applies for real-time scan. If you backfill and just not have data updating, you can do a static scan on however many you want.

you can mix multiple datafeeds to get higher, though would have to do a couple work-arounds. Lets say 1 lets say you have one that is max 600 and another 1500.  You create 3 portfolios:

1) 600 symbols - datafeed 1
2) 1500 symbol - datafeed 2
3) all 2100 symbols from other 2 portfolios and DO NOT START the datafeed.
you would do the scan in portfolio 3, while the other 2 can just be running and minimized.

I have IB but I use that to trade through Ninjatrader so I don't think I can use at the same time with MT without logging out. I also have TD Ameritrade and Allyinvest.

you can connect multiple programs to IB at the same time, but the max # of symbols (100 default) is shared across all connections and TWS.  IB is not practical for scanning unless you pay their fees to increase the max # of symbols

TD Ameritrade is max 1500

Ally Invest is 250

Ally Invest for MBT is default 250 but realtime accounts that use MT should be updated to 500. If you have that and are not, let me know.

So I could use Etrade, TD Ameritrade, and Ally Invest And IB and get 2800 using 4 watchlists and then scan using a 5th list? Any idea whats the best way to pull the tickers?

dont know how you would get the symbols, but if you can get a list of just symbols, be it comma or tab separated, or separate line for each, you can just paste it into MT

is this a regular Ally Invest account or MBT? and if MBT, is it subscribed to real-time? if it is still an MBT account, email us at support and I can have it updated

Actually it was Trade King which I had an account at and Ally Invest bought them. Got MBT mixed up. I'm trying to scan right now but it's really slow. It's doing 2-3 tickers at a time. Is that normal?

Yahoo is not limited. However, since it is auto refresh, not streaming, the more you have, the slower the the refresh will be. Plus, it is not quite the same "real-time" that you get with others. They give you ECN quotes, which are not a representation of the entire market.

RE: TDA allows 1500 symbols in a watchlist. What about streaming data - how many symbols do they allow? I thought they allowed 600 streaming, so I wanted to verify before I made them mad at me. Thanks.
