stock777
Fooling around with the IB paper account. Have it up and running, but wound up changing the port to 7497 in MT to get quotes from it (They use by default this port # vs 7496 for the real account, as you know ) Is this the preferred way of getting paper trader quotes , as I'll have to go in and change it back to 7496 They claim they use two diff ports so you can run them both at the same time. Any chance of accidentally sending a trade to the real account from mt ??
Jerry Medved
you can leave 7497 as the port for Paper trading and in MT just add another IB login for the Paper Trading connection and just change the port to match. You CAN run them both at the same time and MT can handle it OK
stock777
That's what I did for TRADING, but for DATA SOURCE with the existing IB setup (port 7496) I had to change the port to 7497 .
Jerry Medved
In general, you are best off to connect to the live, prod account, but yes, if you can only run 1 at a time, then would need to change the port accordingly
stock777
Ok , no prob , thought so. Obviously, I am running only the paper account at this time. Dont want to tempt fate.
