gnc
I am with IB and getting pretty decent news updates, but many of them are not showing in MT. How to fix that? Btw, how MT gets them, are these pushed in real time?
Jerry Medved
Just select IB as the news source on SETTINGS / DATA SOURCES / NEWS. MT will then subscribe to news whenever it subscribes for quotes As far as I know, they do not send all news via API. I think some need dpecial subscriptions
gnc
Yes, have that already set, but very often the latest don't come through in MT (I can see them in IB's TWS). How MT works, are these pushed/refreshed/displayed in real time in MT's News window ? I am asking because some other in Settings, like Weibull, have setting for refresh rate in minutes, while IB doesn't. Jerry Medved
for IB, news is streaming (pushed) so no refresh rate.
merlin8121
Only news Subscribed (with a payed subscription) , with the specific label "API" , are visible in MT.

Thanks, that make sense now. Inconvenient, but what can you do, will keep checking in TWS.

IB gives one month free trial for every news services; you can try those with the "via API" and check if its good for you.

As for what type of news we get, according to this page, we should get the three news sources listed at the top?https://interactivebrokers.github.io/tws-api/news.html
Jerry Medved
you do not need to be getting quotes from IB in order to get news.
