58LesPaul
Every time I try to place an order it is a limit order. I went to New Order Defaults and changed the Order Settings to Market on Stocks and Options. I assume the Options tab takes care of futures like ES? How can I edit the orders so they are market orders so all I have to do is select buy or sell and the market order is placed? Also on top of the order capsule is a smaller capsule that says Total: 18,648 and the number changes as I move the order up and down the price scale. What does that mean? Thanks
Jerry Medved
on charts the default is LIMIT order and you click where you want the price to be. However, you can show the different order types on the chart - TRADING tab, Trading Settings, Show Order Types... Then you can select MARKET and it will also be the default if that is the default for the account. as for the Total - that represents the order total so if your QTY is 10,00 and the capsule is at 186.48, it is just QTY * Price (and for options times the 100 multiplier). 58LesPaul
When I select Show Order Types, a bar shows up under the QAT that shows Auto on the left end. I don't see anywhere to select MARKET. Thanks
Jerry Medved
What broker? what symbols?and if you right click on AUTO does the menu have options for the other order types?
58LesPaul
TD AmeriTrade, @MES. Right click shows Conditional Orders, Saved Orders and Remember Order Type for this Window. All I can do is check or uncheck those.
Jerry Medved
TD Ameritrade API Does not support futures trading, which is why no order types are available on a futures chart.
58LesPaul
I can trade @MES on ToS with market orders, is this API something different that won't allow it on MT?
Jerry Medved
API is the interface for 3rd party software such as MT to connect to TD Ameritrade, and does not currently support futures trading
58LesPaul
So I can't place any orders at all, LIMIT or any other, for MES/ES using Medved Trader through TD AmeriTrade? That sucks!
Jerry Medved
That is correct. TD Ameritrade supports options and stocks via their API. Not futures
