  1. Is there anyway to have Medved make a sound when an options order is filled(sell or buy)? I usually use thinkorswim for this but I am still waiting for the api transfer, so don't hear anything now.

  2. When you have an option chart open, is there a way to change the current expiry or price easily? eg. if I have .SPY_240205C495 open and I just want to change it to 496. I know you can hit "." and you can type out the full string, but is there any other way to have it populate with recent strikes or what is currently open? Similar to how TOS has the drop down. It's a pain to change strike prices quickly.

TD Ameritrade does have real-time option quotes. Just not backfill. So if you have the option symbols in your portfolio, MT will get quotes on them and will use them to build charts and update charts. The Yahoo backfill would only be for getting historical data for when you were not getting quotes. NOTE: option quote would only be gathered, stored if the option symbol chart is open or the symbol is in portfolio. NOT just on option chain and not in account view.

There should be no difference for placing orders via MT or TD or Ally site - in fact my guess is that order entry is faster via MT. As for fills, that occurs on the servers and is not impacted by the client software.

QuoteMedia and IQFeed have Option symbol backfill. dxFeed I believe does too - we will release it soon.

Ahh ok that makes sense. So I can use tdamerica for the options live during the day but not historical. What happens at night? Originally I did try to load an option but nothing showed up the chart when I used td as the source.

Do you happen to know if td or yahoo would be better for live data during market hours?

  4. Thanks Mike, I had to make yahoo smart source priority "high".

In terms of trading real time is the yahoo data real time and the fastest available source? Also have ally (which pretty sure is delayed in options) and webull.

Is there any noticeable delay when submitted option buy/sell orders and getting filled etc on either ally or td when using Medved?

  5. So I was able to load my td account and I can see my current options listed in the positions.

If I right click on an option and pick the intraday option for one of the options, a chart windows pops up but it is blank and I see the options info and in front the "there is no data to chart"

I have set option data to smart and also tried yahoo and ally and same results

  6. Thanks for the reply Mike,

Do you guys have a video demonstrating this? I have my options set to backfill using "smart source".

Just to elaborate, so in medved I can trade options on the trading chart using options pricing similar to tos? Meaning I can put and move the buy capsules around visually. Below is tos and VALE options pricing charted.

  7. Hi,

    1. Is there a way to change the default tool that is selected when loading a new chart? When I load a new chart the line tool gets reselected from the hand tool which I had previously selected.

    2. When I load a new chart it is never loaded at the current price action section. I have some padding on the right not sure if this is the reason or not. I would like to load the chart at the current price action. Currently my chart defaults are dynamic with padding. I would like to have right hand padding on all charts when the load so it isn't flushed with the edge of that chart box in the visual chart section.

    3. Future MedVed suggestion. Is there anyway you guys could add a undo function using ctrl-z and redo ctrl-y that would cycle between loaded symbols. When cycling through symbols this would be time saving.

    Thanks!

This is how my new loaded chart starts out.

  8. Hi Jerry, so I had an issue today closing a short. I got into a short (80 shares), and then when the price went down I tried "buy" the amount of shares with a limit order, that failed. I then tried buy at market again 80 shares and that failed. I then hit "close" on the symbol and even reverse and that didn't work either. I had to go back into ally and hit buy 80 shares to close my short. Do you guys offer a video tutorial on how to correctly accomplish this? I get I have to buy back 80 shares but couldn't get it done with medved.

Called up the bank and apparently this ticker was on the do not short list. Somehow when I placed my original sell order at my target, the capsule had more shares then I owned. So the sell limit order was for 100 instead of 80. So when the target got hit, I bought an additional 20 shares and I couldn't get out of it using the buy limit order. Even inside ally a buy to cover didn't work, had to use a "buy" market.

  9. Hi, searching help in medved for "short" and "selling" couldn't find what I was looking for. I initiated a short on a ticker using the "sell" limit and price. Order was executed as stock crossed price. Aside from hitting "flatten" how can I close the short sale? I tried a setting a "sell" limit at my target and that didn't work.

  10. Hi,

    1. I am trying to import my current holdings into a medved portfolio so I can see my shares and I am able to check to see if news on my holdings comes out daily. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I can open and view my current holdings by going to account view and then double clicking the account. But don't see a way to go further then that.

    2. If I want to have two stock windows open. Different stocks, so I can trade and watch. What is the fastest way to open a new chart window? I had to jump to the layout and then add a window and it just seemed a bit complicated, figure there has to be a shortcut or faster method here.

  11. Is there anyway to by default set my buy capsule button to buy at "bid" as opposed to buy at "ask" without having to click on the "P" and changing the peg manually to at "bid"?

Also wanted to see if there was a way to stop medved from cutting off whole numbers on the right. I would like to see whole numbers and not 127.0 and playing with the zoom is cumbersome.

Another question I had, second attachment is from tradingview. Is there a way to have a crosshair show me where I have my mouse in relation to price as shown. The mouse pointer isn't showing in the screen cap so I drew it in red. I feel like medved should have a pointer and a crosshair, and a floating toolbar.

  12. Pro's of Robinhood are no fee and you don't have deal with crypto wallets etc. Much of the point of crypto aside from security is to cut the fees of the middle man like fiat and banks. Downside of Robinhood is there is no way to set stops on charts like you do with stocks.

  13. Jerry, I am mostly using MedVed for momentum trading, quick gap ups, lock profit, wait for pull back scenarios. This was very difficult to get done via ally as you can imagine. I had a few questions around that type of trading.

    1. Can I set a "stop" before I actually buy into a stock? eg. I would like to set a stop of $1.72 on Stock X, I click "STP" for order type and then the "SELL" capsule and drop it into the chart. I would then pick "LMT" and click "BUY" and drop the capsule  on the chart at $1.74. Then I would also drop a sell limit order above with my target profit. I set these all up in the attached image but have not clicked send.

    2. Is there a way to set MedVed to use a certain cash value rather then share quantity by default? Say for example I want to always use $100. In the "account specific setting & defaults" I see "quantity/trans. Value $" I thought that might be the spot to put in my $100 value but doesn't seem to work when I place my buy button on the chart. I still see quantity.

    3. In the DOM, are the columns not adjustable?

    #2 Example:

  14. Hi, I am new to MedVed. My broker is Ally. I'll break down my questions/issues by number to make it easier to read

    1. Today I have had on and off issues with setting a Sell Limit order on the chart. Multiple times I had a "failure" message. I had to go into ally in order to place my sell limit (I have the ally site open at the time watching my messaged for buys and sell).

    2. Another issue I have is when I load a chart, I need to scroll in order to bring the chart into view. I have my chart setup with some padding (dynamic with padding since I want to see padding on the sides and top) not sure if that is the problem?

Screenshot below: This is the message I have been getting in this case by the time I took the screen cap the price had dropped below my buy limit, but the same message has happened earlier with price way above.
