  1. Hi Jerry - yes, of course you are correct. Taking another look at the data source settings I had mistaken the ticked box after Level II as meaning that it was supported - the tick actually applies to backfill.

    Thanks

  2. Hi Jerry

I don't have a level ii panel open (at least I can't see any) but when I try to open one using Yahoo Finance I get the popup about not being able to open more than one level ii window. Do you have any suggestion for me to be able to see one level ii panel?

    Thanks

  3. Hi Jerry

I want to help a friend setup MT. Can I simply use the export/backup procedure in my MT setup (selecting the 'share with others' option) and send him the MTExport File so that he can import this file into a new MT installation?  Would he then only have to set up his data sources/configure his accounts?

  4. Hi Jerry. Yes, I poorly worded my post - what I meant to say was that I click on the index symbol througout the session to refresh the index data. The charts for indexes are always empty. So where is the refresh data coming from? I always assumed that it was from Commsec - but it could be from the ASX (20 minute delayed) which is also streaming at the same time as commsec. I had previously considered whether the data was from the ASX but I thought not because the symbol at the ASX would be XAO and not XAO:ASX, in which case it would be unlikely to be from the ASX. But I could be wrong on that conclusion.

In any event, index data is important because its correct location in the list of portfolio symbols tells me the general state of play of the market.

  5. Hi Jerry

The indexes (XAO:ASX, XJO:ASX,XFJ:ASX, etc) in fact do work using data from Commsec.

However, a problem relating to the updating of the data for the indexes in MT remains (the same problem apparently does not apply to individual stocks). The problem that occurs is that the indexes are not updating, but if an index symbol was double clicked to open a chart of the index, this would initiate a refresh of the index's data, which would result in the data for the index being updated for the remainder of the session. At least all of that is my experience and is what I currently continue to do.

  6. I'm using Commsec for MT and I'm very sorry Jerry to say that MT is virtually useless at the moment because the updating of prices is very problematic to say the least.

I have noticed a very strange quirk with MT - when I know that the symbol prices are not updating (because of another provider's screen that I needed to also have open) and double click that symbol in MT, and the chart for that symbol opens - a moment later the prices update. It is not a solution however.

  7. It looks like if there is no change from the previous close then the Change and the Chg% columns show "-" and not a zero. The result is if you sort by either of these columns (as I do) then these "-" cells show at the bottom and not in the correct ranking that a zero would show.

  8. Hi Jerry

I noticed an oddity in MT. I use Commsec for data and I noticed that the Prv Cls column was not showing any data - then I inadvertently discovered that if I opened the level II data for a symbol then the Prv Cls data for that symbol appeared in the portfolio screen. So I did the same for all my symbols in the portfolio and the data appeared. All a bit odd. I don't know if tomorrow there will be no Prv Cls data in the portfolio screen.

  9. Hi Jerry

I still haven't managed to crack the setup for the timeframe of the ASX charts (using Commsec as the data). Today the charts stopped updating at 12:42 and not 4:00 PM which is the market close time - so the charts did not update the full session.

My symbols are in the MT format eg CBA:ASX and my other settings are:

Charts/Timeframes - Australian Equities set as default. Time Zone (UTC + 10:00) set as default. Active Market Hours 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

On the Charts / View the Timeframe is set to Australian Equities.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

  10. Hi Jerry

First the important point - When do you ever sleep? As usual your support is first class.

I'm using Commsec as the data source - and the using the MT symbol format appears (at the moment) to have solved the problem.

  11. I'm following the ASX and my intraday charts stop updating at 13:00. All of the other components of MT continue to update. Is there a problem with the exchange open hours in the settings? Is the Time Zone of UTC+10 correct (should it be something other than 10)?

I've tried to also set  a unique time zone in the settings but I still can't get the charts to update past 13:00.

    Thanks for any assistance
