  1. There are some interesting order types, can someone explain what they are?  (I am using Interactive Brokers)?

TStopPT - what is it for, and how is that different from TStop?
Bracket - how does it work and what is a use case, considering that MT can create brackets using OCA orders

  2. Medved draws something atop the current volume bar. Please see screenshot below

    What does this mean please?

    Can it be deactived?

I find it sometimes confusing as it looks like the volume is picking up a lot, while that may not be the case.

  3. Hi Jerry

    I tried but no luck.

When I said default size, what I mean is the defaullt position size which is determined by my Account settings / transaction value. When I play around with double/halve, then the QTY on the trade ticket gets changed, and I am trying to restore it to the value determined by my account settings.

The DefaultQty in the hotkey is below, but it doesn't do what I am trying to achieve.

By the way, it would be great if you can add an option to preview the transaction value on the trade ticket. This would be helpful to get a sense of the $ I am about to deploy.

  4. Hi Mike,

thanks for your feedback. it took me a while to get my head around the beads.  it's a nice and unique feature, just not much out there providing some inspiration how to use them.

Re point 1) thanks for pointing me to the shortcut. It works!

re point 2)  In my experience, when all beads are cleared, and I start over placing new beads with the mouse, MT will create them in logical sequence: bead 1-2-3...

NumBeads should return the # of beads on the chart, regardless of bead number.

My workflow for every trade could be something like that:  1. clear beads 2. set trade beads with the mouse. click-click-click- as many as I think are appropriate for the trade 3. hit my magic hotkey, which  places orders at all bead levels. 4.My magic hotkey calculates the position size for each order, using NumBeads.

    A basic example

in case 2 beads on chart: position size will be calculated as 1/2 at bead(1), 1/2 at bead(2)

in case 3 beads on chart: position size will be calculated as 1/3 at bead(1), 1/3 at bead(2), 1/3 at bead (3)

With NumBeads I can cover both situations with a simple hotkey...

  5. I started using the trade beads, and think they are great to create scale orders around key levels on the chart.

There are a few things I would like to suggest as improvements.

    1. Clear beads via keyboard shortcut / via Clear All button in the beads area. Clearing should be just 1 click. Sometimes, beads can be outside the visible area of the chart, which may cause some unexpected behavior when hitting the hotkey and placing the orders. Better to just clear them quickly to make sure that there are no surprises.

    2. Add a hotkey function that returns the number of beads used on the chart. This would be useful to configure a hotkey which uses all the beads on the chart, whether there are 1, 2, or even 20, and divides the required position size by number of beads in use.

    3. Wider clickable area, to make it more intuitive to use. The current area is a bit narrow (just along the vertical line) making it a little tricky to hit.

Hope that makes sense, will be happy to hear your thoughts!

  6. Sounds like a good idea. I am trying but no success yet. I have a dropped buy order on the chart, and created a keyboard shortcut for the below 'Send Order' hotkey. Then pointed mouse over the capsule of the buy order and tried the keyboard shortcut but nothing ...

  7. Hi,

I would like to configure a keyboard shortcut to send a dropped order from the chart to the broker.

MT has a 'Send the Order'  shortcut, but its for the trade ticket window. This shortcut does not work from the chart.

Would it be possible to add a similar shortcut for charts?

  8. Hi Jerry,

I've installed the darkmode fix. It works OK with my IB datasource.
I do hope the font can be fixed at some point, but it's certainly workable now. Thank you.

Another observation - when selecting a headline, the row gets highlighted but it needs a double-click to update the story. I can select other headlines whilst the previous story remains displayed. Can this behavior be changed so that the story updates to whatever headline is selected and highlighted? this is to avoid confusion with unrelated headlines/stories.

    Regards,

  9. Hi Jerry

I am grateful for your prompt fix of the story loading, but really, the way the stories are displayed now are sub-standard and I am not happy with it.

Why not enforcing your standard font and the colors matching the set user preferences. If MT can do this for the headlines, there must be a way for the associated stories.

  10. Thanks Jerry - I applied the update. The story is loading now and appears in a pane below the headlines.
Is there a way to fix the appearance and align it with the rest of MT (font, fontsize, background)?

  11. I have subscribed to Benzinga Breaking News via API from IB, and enabled IB as my news data source in MT.

I can see news headlines in MTs Symbol News window with source "BZ" but cannot drill down into the messages. I guess the news source is providing a bit more than headlines - perhaps short articles. Is there a way to inspect what is being delivered by the source, and reveal more details in MT?

  12. Mike - in your last example, is it not necessary to specify Quantity in each of the Sell bracket legs?

Nico - which broker are you using?

The benefit of Mike's proposed OTOCA solution is that the broker will be able to associate buy and sell orders as belonging to the same order. Your broker can then make placement of OTOCA Sell orders conditional on a complete fill of your OTOCA Buy order. I don't think MT Saved Orders can do that - they will send separate Buy and Sell orders -from the POV of the broker, these are not linked so theoretically they can fill separately.

Btw - I am using the same approach as Mike described and it works well for me..

  13. Hi Jerry,

I really like the tile views, but the inability to sort them in an intuitive way really limits the use.  Adding a sorting function to tile views seems like a good improvement to me, it seems likely other users will benefit from it.

Dynamic sorting will work for me as well - would you consider that?

  14. Hi

MT is displaying trade fills on the chart, but it seems it isn't storing the fill information. When I revisit my open swing trades the next day, the fills are no longer visible.

    Can this be fixed somehow?
