  1. Can't this be a global variable? I am trying to configure a clean and simple chart layout with predictable capsule locations.

Related to the above, switching back and forth between different symbols messes up the capsule locations on the first chart (from which the order was launched). The XOnChart setting seems to get over-ridden but should be persistent when entered.

TradingView have a similar trading capsule - the position is always right/left/center depending on the global setting.

  2. When the RR tool is dropped on the chart, it will usually be placed near the last bar on the right side. However, this causes the RR tool to go off chart (see screenshot) as you drag with the mouse to expand the tool.

Can you change the behavior to automatically add spacing on the chart so that the RR tool is displayed within the chart?

In addition to dragging the tool on the chart, I'd like to suggest to allow one-click drop off.

Basically: select RR tool, click near the last bar - this causes the RR tool to be auto-placed with entry point at mouse location and stop/target points at their default setting.

  3. Hi

I created some hotkeys which use the XOnChart parameter to control the positioning of the trading capsule. While my XOnChart parameter works perfectly on the chart from which the order is launched, it has no effect on other charts within the same linked symbol group. I think the XOnChart parameter should be effective on all charts of this symbol.

    Please see screenshot below:

  4. Hi,

Is it possible to view realized PnL in the trade log, or maybe get some other summary view displaying a list of closed trades during the day/week etc with their respective realized PnL?

    Greetings

  5. I'm a heavy virtual desktop user, especially when travelling with a laptop when I only have one screen. I wouldn't mind if MT windows were simply fixed to the first virtual desktop. I can work around that and assign all other apps to other virtual desktops. Can you please suggest a fix to this problem?

  6. I am running into a weird problem using Windows 10 Virtual Desktops and MT.

I have MT on Desktop 1, but when switching to Desktop 2 sometimes the last active window fill follow me around, so I end up having MTs windows spread across Desktop 1/2 and I need to move back the windows manually.  I tried locking the affected windows but this seems to have no impact.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

  7. Hi Jerry,

I completed testing my 'bracket existing position' orders on my IB account and they work fine. I created two versions:

    • one with stop market, TIF GTC
    • one with stop limit, TIF GTC+Ext

I have another account with TradeStation. I am trying to test the same orders on the TradeStation SIM account now. The bracket with stop market and TIF=GTC seems to work fine, but the order with stop limit and TIF=GTC+Ext is causing this error:

The error message seems to suggest TS is not allowing market and stop orders with TIF=GTC+...

Is there another way to place brackets that execute outside of regular trading hours?

  8. My hotkey settings are pretty much the same as in your screenshot, except that I am using Send: CancelThenSend - I chose this to prevent issues with potentially outstanding orders prior to sending the bracket.

What I get is this error message and negative stop loss price.

  9. I'd like to create a hotkey that allows me to bracket an existing position.

say I happened to enter a long or short position using the buy/sell buttons.

I now want to place a bracket order around that existing position, at a predefined % distance from my entry price.

How can I achieve this in the hotkey editor? I tried a few settings but no luck yet. I guess the LimitPrice needs a reference to my entry price but not sure which expression to use. PosPaid+x% seems not correct.

  10.

since both legs of the OCA have to be the same quantity, can I split the OCA order in two OCA parts say 25% and 75% of the position? that would allow me to define different take profit levels and get close enough to what I am trying to do.

    Example

    • Entry Long Default QTY
    • OCA1 Bracket 25% of position QTY - Stop Loss -2% and take profit +4%
    • OCA2 Bracket 75% of position QTY - Stop Loss -2% and take profit +8%

I am trying to understand how to set this up in the hotkey editor and will appreciate some guidance.

    Thanks

    Hans

  11. isn't there another way?

lets assume instead of OCA I am using a single, normal stop loss order (without take profit).

Is there a way in MT to automatically trigger a partial take profit once my trade reaches a certain % gain? it would need to do:

    • cancel existing stop loss
    • take 25% profit
    • place new stop loss for remaining QTY

  12. Hi,

I am trying to create a hotkey to allow me entering a position, and place a bracket order with a stop loss and one partial take profit order. I'd like to use a single hotkey to accomplish something like this:

    • Enter a long position at default quantity
    • Place bracket order with stop loss (100% of position quantity at minus 2% of entry price) and limit take profit (say 25% of position quantity at +4% of entry price).
    • Once the take profit executes, the stop loss of this OCA order is cancelled so I'd like the system to automatically place a new stop loss order for the remaining quantity of the position, at either the same distance from my entry price as the original stop loss, or at breakeven.

Basically the idea is to let the position run and close it manually, but ensure that some profit is captured automatically to compensate for some of the initial risk and free up some buying power for the next trade.

Is there a way achieve this in MT?

    Thanks

    HANS
