well never mind. I tried closing and opening MT again and it worked this time. I probably forgot to use the exit button when I reloaded before.

I have not been on MT for awhile due to personal reasons and now after I logged in and got the latest update it says I am using the free version. I still have my ally account and I have authorized MT on their website. I have tried reloading MT and setting ally for trading but the same result.

I still have my Ally account over $500 but it's saying that I'm using the free version of MT. I have Ally set in quotes and trading. I went to the Ally site and authorized MT to access my account.

Well I did a system restore back about a month and now MT will start but I am getting this error: Medved Trader encountered a critical error and will need to shut down Could not load file or assembly 'TeeChart.Client, Version=4.1.2012.1311, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=5852dc2e94c7ab4b' or one of its dependencies. It finally finished but will not run. No splash screen. The MT icon is on my desktop but nothing happens when I click on it.

It got almost to the end but is now paused on creating shortcuts so I don't think this is going to help.

I use Avira. Should I disable it and try to install the program again?

A box popped up saying I would have to manually install the new version of MT. I downloaded the update and it would pause several times when installing. After about 20 minutes it finally finished but nothing happens when I try to start it. I am running the latest version of Windows 10 and don't have problems with any other software I am using. I can't send a log file since I can't get into the program. I tried installing the program in safe mode with the same results.

Jerry, I installed the beta and still having same issues. Dividends better on some, no earnings for any after about May, and some like BMY not showing dividends or earnings. It shows my version to be 1.1.6171.1251 x64. Is that the beta?

I know you're working on it and charts are a little better at showing dividends but still no recent earnings. But there are some that don't show any events... BMY for example. I tried reloading MT but no difference.

I wrote to you a few months back about most charts not showing earnings after about May and now a lot of charts are not even showing dividends. FAM and DHG are two examples. This is pretty basic stuff so would you consider changing the data source of your charts? If you're paying for this you're not getting your money's worth.

I'm thinking of opening a TradeKing account since it looks like they have good pricing plus getting MT free is a great incentive. But what is MBT and how does it differ from a regular account? Also, after getting an account there do I need to cancel my current account with MT and download it again?

what source does data come from?

I have dividends and earnings to show on the historical charts but on most charts the latest earnings are not showing but all dividends are. example is DAL where the last earnings showing is 7/14 and missing the earnings reported on 10/13. But the dividend for 11/8 is showing. Most stocks seem to be missing the earnings after July but MSFT does show 10/21 earnings. I have TDA for data source but have tried backfilling with both google and yahoo with the same results.

I think MT makes a backup only when the program is open or closed. I have mine set to save on close but when a reset or power failure happens, the data is not backed up. Would be nice to have a back up setting you could set the time yourself. Maybe overwriting the previous backup.

Where does the news topics come from? It seems to be random. A stock I was following received a buy-out offer and it says "no news for ....." . I checked on google and yahoo and when clicking on the stock there are many news stories about the buy out. I have google, yahoo and the fly as news sources in settings and all portfolios enabled.

I can't get the x or y axis to highlight when mousing over them. The dates at the bottom of the chart will highlight on the x axis but I can't move anything. I have watermarks turned off now but still have the blank space showing.

I have my charts settings set to the same shade of gray so watermarks don't show on the charts and my Y axis on the right. There is a darker gray space of about 10 days past the last trading day that extends to the numbers on the Y axis and shows the last few letters of the bookmark. How do I get rid of this? Also I have some duplicates showing on the select menu for chart templates. Is there any way to delete these? Thanks.

COOL!! I didn't know QT or MT could be configured to show charts when you click on a symbol. I haven't figured out how to switch from, say, a line chart to a renko chart by using the colored links but doubt if I would use that much anyway.

I don't think this is possible right now but something I would hope to see someday. When in portfolio view, double clicking on a symbol brings up the daily chart , would be nice to have the option of bringing up historical chart instead. Or even better, just selecting a symbol would bring up a historical chart.

My custom color set is back and I haven't been able to recreate the problem of it not importing. If I lose it again I will send you the log file. Thanks

I installed the update. Works now but here's something interesting: if the show value box is checked and the highlight indicator box is unchecked (so all the others are greyed out) the values still show. And I'm back to square one on the custom color for the charts. Since I installed the update I can only select the preset color sets. I have imported several older backups and my custom set color scheme does not show up in color sets tab. I've tried restarting MT.

Isn't there a way to stop the crosshair from changing to the hand symbol and showing values when it is on an indicator? I have unchecked the "show indicator values" box and in the edit indicator parameters I do not have the "show current value" boxes checked.
