Weird. When I restored an even older backup my custom colors came back and now when I restore from the most recent backup I have custom settings too.It is now showing "new chart color set" in menu when it didn't before. So if I only want to restore color sets, would it work to uncheck everything except "user settings (roaming)" ?

I have been using a custom color set for my charts for many months now but today all my charts have changed back to the default color set view. I have tried restoring several different back ups and even my column layout but the charts stay the same. What is the backup file that saves the color set view?

Jerry, exactly how do I re-install? I can't find an install program. I have tried deleting the files in the folder and logging in and it seems to re-install MT but I still have the same error. Thanks.

I don't know how long it has been this way but the high, low, close prices shown on the historical charts are not right for some stocks in MT. An example is NLY. I bought it for 11.70 on 9/11/13 but on the chart it shows a high of 10.49 and low of 10.2577. I looked in QT and it showed a range between 11.74 and 11.48 which is correct. Volume is different too.

Deleting SNEWS.BIN fixed it. I couldn't find SNEWS.BIN.BAK but when I looked again after MT opened it was there. Thanks.

And one thing I've never quite understood When clicking on the MT icon in the taskbar you see the dashboard and portfolio view but can only return to dashboard (clicking on portfolio does nothing) but at other times it will work normally.

Under portfolios to monitor I have all portfolios checked. I will send you the exported settings file but what is your e-mail address?

I get "no news " for every stock now. I have Yahoo and Google Finance both checked for news sources and I have tried restarting news sources

When in portfolio view I now have the "total" row at the top of the list instead of at the bottom where it belongs. Is there a way to move it to the bottom as dragging doesn't seem to work. Thanks.

Thanks for reply. Good to know all settings can be backed up. The reason I got interested was because one of my portfolio views changed recently. The column names and widths were completely different in only one portfolio ( I have several watchlists). It has not happened again so I don't know if it was a bug or a glitch in my computer. Will report if it happens again.

I'm a little confused about backups. If I save a column layout in the ribbon it has a file extension of .PortColLayout. Under file..load layout..it wants only .layout extension and will not load any other. I was assuming that file... save layout not only saves column layout but all other settings too but then what is the difference between that and the .MTExport file you get when you use the export tab?

What files should be saved to keep backups of column views, portfoilios and custom charts? QT automatically backed up critical files but I dont think MT does.

The latest update has fully adjustable priceline thickness and works great. Thanks, Mike and Jerry.

I mostly use line charts and with 2 or more trendlines the priceline sometimes is hard to see. In QT you could adjust the thickness of the priceline but I don't think MT has that. I think one of the reasons QT was preferred by so many people was because nearly everything was customizable.

I have SMA, EMA and DEMA for chart indicators and when I click on change/edit, hide indicator it does not work for these. However I also have events, dividends and it will hide. I am able to change the settings for the others but they will not hide. I don't know if it has anything to do with it but I received a critical error message about a day ago and restarted MT. update again: the columns are labeled chg$ and chg% instead of value change like it was in QT. (love it when I'm smart enough to solve my own dumbness)

update: I did find value in there (the column was resized too small) but still have not found valchgn

I can't seem to find value and valchg in the columns when in portfolio view. These would be a lot more important to me than some of the others in there.

Thanks jerry. I see how to change the font size in charts but is there any way to set font to bold so it shows up better? and is there a way to show the market index panel like in QT?
