  1. Understood.

C# is widely used and well-documented - I can also see that creating docs for MT will be time-consuming and you'd wait until things are pretty well stabilized.

That said, is there or will there soon be a way for a user to add (via C#) custom-calculated cells in the quotegrid ?

  2. I am returning to this topic after some time has elapsed to see if you have any further thoughts on it.

Also, I am wondering if as an interim you might implement something simpler than full-blown C# integration - example: enable custom-formula cells in quotegrid (similar to Excel or other spreadsheet).

    Thanks.

  3. Hi,

It is possible to set the same symbol link group on different watchlists. This is good.

But if I do this, and I switch focus to a 2nd watchlist without clicking in symbol column, the selected symbol does not change.

Shouldn't the selected symbol pick up the change in selected watchlist, and change linked charts accordingly ?

    Thanks.

  4. I will take this opportunity to throw in a feature request for when you implement alerts.

It would be really useful to have alerts trigger based on conditions pertaining to the L2 order book. Please keep this in mind when doing the design and implementation.

    Thanks.

  5. True, but split adjustment may be done by data vendor with a delay - so if I want to see "correct" charts immediately, I need to do split adjustment on day of split, then clear/backfill when vendor does it too.

If I cannot split-adjust on the day of a split, I will lose the effective use of the chart for one day.

  6. Portfolio Editor - select the symbol there and hit the SPLIT button. There is an option to adjust the existing data.

that option's available for portfolios but not watchlists. Maybe it should be available for watchlist too?

I did a workaround by first adding the symbol that needed adjustment to a portfolio, then selecting "adjust all portfolios" and "adjust intraday data" and that seemed to almost work (the previous day data were all adjusted except for one point).

  7. Is it possible to overlay indicators from a longer time frame chart onto a chart for a shorter time frame? (or vice versa)

    E.g. 10-day EMA on 15min Intraday chart.

(i don't mean synthetically by converting units and plotting a 10*(60/15)*6.5 bar EMA on the 15min chart)

  8. Something similar exists on the Canadian exchange: bid/ask can become locked in premarket auction, leading to a single "calculated opening" price.

So if there is no separate "indication" price in the feed, you can still calculate this by looking at locked quotes where bid==ask before the open.

  9. On market holidays, time-based charts display a blank day.

Example: this past Monday 5/19/2014 was Victoria Day in Canada and the markets were closed.

Yet, the chart uses horizontal space as for a regular day, just with no data. Indicators like prior-day high and low are drawn over this blank day.

    See here:

(I would prefer the holiday to be skipped in the chart and for indicators like the ones mentioned to be drawn in for the next mkt session.)

  10. ...we do not show which exchange a trade is from on the Raw Data window...

understood that this data is Stockwatch-only and so only of interest to a subset of MT users.

    BUT

For Canadian stocks, it would be very useful to have the option of recording/displaying this, plus the identity of buying/selling brokers on each trade (also provided by Stockwatch.)

Recording this extra data on active symbols in real time may create performance bottlenecks, so maybe it can be skipped and later retrieved via backfill for symbols with a high trade rate?

  11. In time-based intraday charts, thick vertical gridlines are used at day breaks; thin lines are used on even-spaced hours.

I also see vertical grid lines used for tick charts but I cannot understand what criteria are used to draw them, or if the criteria can be chosen.

  12. Currently with Trades or Blocks selected to filter Raw Data, the bid/ask is frozen to what was last updated with the corresponding trade.

It would be nice if you could continue to update the realtime bid/ask in the raw window even when no trades occur, because less active stocks may have changing quote with no trades.

(yes, this info is already available in the quote grid, but there it can get visually suppressed by the large amount of other info present. If you select "None" for Raw Data filter, you do get to see the most recent bid/ask, but the trades can quickly scroll off.)

    Thanks.

  13. The raw data window can "filter" what is displayed so you can optionally see just trades or blocks.

Could you use that setting to also filter what is shown on the intraday charts? (e.g. display charts of only block trades)

This would be very handy to eliminate visual noise due to oddlot trades.

If more than one raw window is symbol-linked to an intraday chart or charts, you could plot values according to what is in each of the raw windows.

    Thanks for considering.
