  1. I'd also like to recommend "using the space bar to scroll the symbol list". I use this feature in TC2000 and it's very useful when you have a long list of symbols and want to flip the charts quickly. In TC2000, when you hit the space bar the next chart comes up almost instantaneously. I'm not sure how they accomplish this but it feels almost like the charts are pre-loaded.
  2. When I click on UPDATE in the Check for Updates window, nothing happens. It does say "updates are available". This is occurring right now, 11-11-14 11:31pm PST. I have v1.0.1861.2315, the new update is supposed to be v1.0.1890.231? (the last digit is hidden by the next column). John
  3. I just sent the Export Settings file from My Documents/MedvedTrader John
  4. I just tried again...I went to File/Export Settings and clicked Export. That's all I did. Is there another step that you didn't mention? I'd also try to attach the file to this reply but I don't see a way to do this. John
  5. That's the problem, I don't think IB or TDA broadcast these symbols. I was hoping that you, or someone, might know who does. I've been trying for a a couple years to get TDA to use them in their API datafeed. They use them on their website, and in TOS, but when I last checked they weren't available in the API datafeed. I'll try them again and see if I can convince them this time.
  6. Can you add NYHGH and NYLOW ...NYSE 52 week highs, NYSE 52 week lows. Also NAHGH and NALOW ...NASDAQ 52 week highs, NASDAQ 52 week lows. These symbols are used in Think or Swim with the $ in front of each. I don't know which datafeeds transmit this information, but it can be very useful, especially the 52 week lows, in marking important market turns. TOS has similar symbols for 1 month new highs/lows, and 1 week new highs and lows. John
  7. Recently, every time I start MT two of 5 or 6 charts will open up blank. One is intraday, the other Daily bars. Both are the same symbol, MYL. In each chart's title bar, in place of the symbol, the text is SymbolLink:Blue. I can get each chart to appear by clicking on it's Blue pin, and, when it changes to a horizontol no color pin, then clicking again. The instant I click on the no color pin, the chart will fill in. I only recently began using the SymbolLink pins, but I can't say for sure if this problem started right then or if it began after a new version upgrade. I'm using the latest MT version: 1.0.1794.905. Datafeeds are IB and TDA. John
  8. Jerry, I sure can't get the X axis(horizontal) to "pad". Clicking on(or near it) it and dragging just adds a line. Actually, it's not clear where on the X axis I should click, and I'm not even sure where the X axis is on the chart. It would be really useful if you could add a right click window (like the vertical scale window) for the horizontal scale. John
  9. So it makes it's choice alphabetically...the first data source with available data gets chosen?
  10. In the portfolio: VRX: Last 137.93 Open 111.93 High (blank) Low (blank) Date 1-19-14 Time 19:23:07 Prev Close 137.93 GNC: Last 53.09 Open 58.43 High (blank) Low (blank) Date 1-19-14 Time 19:23:05 Prev Close 53.09 There is no Close column, although I really wish there was a Close (of the regular session) column. In the Data Box: OHLC VRX: 111.93,137.93,137.93,137.93 1-19-14. No volume, no time (daily bar/candlestick) GNC: 58.43,53.09,53.09,53.09 1-19-14. No volume, no time I checked 1 min charts of these symbols, they show charts for Friday 1-17-14 and nothing for Sunday 1-19-14. I also checked Raw Data, but there was nothing for Sunday 1-19-14.
  11. I just checked in QT and the same symbols are showing a phantom bar, but it's dated 1-20-14 and is a small bar/candlestick, sometimes an exact duplicate of the last day's bar.
  12. Today, Sunday 19th Jan, when I bring up a daily bar chart of a stock symbol there is an extra bar on the chart...next to Fridays (17 Jan) bar. I'm seeing it in most charts that I bring up, but not all. It's always an extra long range candlestick, colored yellow instead of green or red. It's dated 1-19-14. It seems to me that this is only occurring on the weekend, and I don't recall seeing this problem during the week, but it occurred in the recent past...probably last weekend. I don't see a way to attach example charts, so here are two zippyshare links to them: http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/17691869/file.html http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/26860763/file.html I remember the same problem with QT. I'm using IB and TDA datafeeds. John
  13. Jerry, with the Smart Source Selector, what happens if I have a futures symbol and some stock symbols in a single portfolio. If I bring up an intraday stock chart, will the SSS backfill using IB (5 days only) or TDA (60 days). John
  14. Being able to move the current bar away from the right border of a chart, this is something I would like to see added to MT, just like it is in QT. And it was a great use of screen space (and quick also) the way it was done in QT. John
  15. In QT, in the upper right corner of a chart there was an icon shaped like a paper pin. You could click on it to link or unlink the chart. I never knew how to use the different linking colors, but when I clicked on the pin and it pointed at an angle that meant that a click on a symbol (in a portfolio) would change that window's chart to that of the symbol clicked. So I could go through my portolio one symbol after the other and change the chart as I clicked my way down the list. If I set the pin to it's horizontal position, that locked the chart so that it couldn't be changed from the portfolio symbol list. I used this all day long in QT, being able to quickly go through a number of symbols/charts without having more than one or two windows taking up the screen space. I haven't figured out how to do this with MT, and this has left MT crippled for my style of viewing charts. Can someone show me how to do this if it is even possible. BTW, an improved way of quickly reviewing a list of stock charts is found in Telechart 2007. Instead of having to click on an individual symbol each time you want to change the chart (to the next symbol), all you need to do is tap the Space Bar and the chart changed to the next symbol in the list. It's very quick and efficient...would be nice if MT could incorporate something like it. John
  16. Using MT 1.0.1558.2325. 1. gaps in intraday charts...example: MYL missing these days: 12/16, 12/20, 12/24, 12/27, 1/03, 1/08(partial). TRIP missing these days: 12/17, 12/20, 12/23. Tried many times to backfil using IB data, TDA data, Smart Source (whatever that is?). No luck. I tried clearing the data for past 5 days, then backfilling...this filled the missing days. But I don't want to clear ALL the data, and lose some of it. I think MT could use a way to clear more than just 5 days at a time(10 days, 15 days, etc...). And why is this occurring, I'm not having this data gap problem in QT using the same data sources, nor in TWS. 2. minimized charts won't stay where they are parked. In a futile effort to remember which minimized charts are which, I'm parking them in specific locations at the top of the screen. But when I restart QT, the minimized charts are always opened and spread across the screen. I hope you can someday figure out a way to put some identifying text in the minimized box, so like in QT, it'll be easy to minimize a chart and still be able to identify it. So far, in MT, I've found it impossible to manage the screen the way I can in QT. John
  17. Jerry, When I mentioned this problem originally, I was trying to do what I've done many times in QT...I copy a vertical list of symbol names from EditPad, and paste them into the "add symbols to portfolio" window. In QT they go in perfectly, one symbol to each line(row). When I originally tried this with MT, MT crammed all the symbols together without any spaces and I was basically entering one very long symbol name (ie: KORSAXLNDDDLLGOOGFB). You must have worked on this because the result now is different. I just tried to paste in a list of 50 symbols and MT only enters the first symbol into the "add symbols to portfolio" window. I double checked the paste, and I can paste all 50 symbols into a new EditPad file. So I don't think it's the paste function itself that's functioning incorrectly. Hope this can be fixed, I usually do this 2-4 times a week. John
  18. I'm using TWS build 936.6 with no problems. But a week ago there was a problem with intraday stock charts missing data from the open(6:30am) to 8-10am(varied with the symbol). This gap showed on the chart but the crosshair/cursor skiped over the gap, wouldn't register in the gap. I don't know if the problem was from IB or TDAmeritrade, or MT, and I can't tell which datafeed is being used for backfill. This problem disappeared with the last two upgrades, so isn't an issue now. Data issues

I'm using TWS Build 936.9I Nov 7, 2013 . No problems connecting. There is a problem with phantom bars, but I'm not sure if it's a MT problem, IB, or TDAmeritrade. Backfilling doesn't solve it. Phantom bars, in QT used to manifest themselves as a duplicate bar next to the most current daily bar. They would usually disappear when the market opened the next day. Right now, In MT, most recent update, I'm getting a non-duplicate phantom daily bar, it has a date of 12-07-13 and is a different size on each of two different symbols. I might have had this problem on the previous build, but on some earlier builds it wasn't seen. Another data related problem: starting with last Weds, I'm getting gaps in the two intraday charts I have up. Weds 12-04-13 TRIP: 15 min bars begin at 8am end at 12:45 MYL: 15 min bars begin at 9:30 am end at 12:45pm Thurs 12-05-13 TRIP 15 min bars begin at 7:30am end at 12:45 MYL: 15 min bars begin at 10:30 am end at 12:45pm Friday 12-06-13 TRIP 15 min bars begin at 8:15am end at 12:45 MYL: 15 min bars begin at 10:30 am end at 12:45pm All previous day show the 15 min bars begining at 6:30am end at 12:45pm Extended hours (Default..Never) Timeframe: US Equity Markets I'm using IB, AMTD, and YAHOO. John
  20. I think it's a nice idea, but I hope you'll also have the option of a one color line chart.
  21. Funny, I never thought of the right click menu as over populated. Probably because I regularly use only about 4 of the choices and I know exactly where they are. I wonder if it's possible to make the right click menu user configurable, like the toolbar(s), adding and removing the choices, and moving them around. Saty, I agree with you completely about the simplicity and user friendlyness of QT. It's become a very comfortable design, the charts are pleasing to the eye (and my eye is hard to please). and there's a thoroughness about it that's rare. The ugliness of a program like Think or Swim is sometimes astonishing to me, as are those websites with black backgrounds, dark colors, and tiny white illegible text. Another analogy for using TOS is that it's like trying to walk the length of a football field filled with 4 feet of thick mud. You know you can do it, but the effort involved is so great and the payoff so small that you usually stop at the twenty yard line. I've been trying for years to use TOS and my opinion of it is exactly the same as the first day I tried it, "what a POS". I use it occasionally because it's the only place I can chart New Lows. I just discovered Ribbon Control this week, and was thrilled to find it. One of my complaints was the wasted space above the charts and other windows. Regaining that space makes the charts a lot easier to watch. I've also wondered if there were legal constaints to duplicating the features and design of QT. That would have been a good starting point for me, though I admit that to a programmer it would have been dullsville to just clone something from the past. But I hope the thoroughness and the functional genius gets cloned. John
