In the Portfolio window, I have a list of symbols. When I set the color thumb tag to let say green, that applies to all the symbols. I want to set a different color thumb tag in the Portfolio window for each symbol.

but that defeats the purpose of having symbol groups.  If you just want a window for a particular symbol, just open the window without linking it

I agree.  That is why I ask for this as a new feature and not fixing or changing the symbol link groups function. Maybe call this new feature symbol link.

but how would that be different from what is already there - just opening a separate window for each symbol

The difference is I already have windows open with all the settings, periods, and freq I want . With individual symbol link I can quickly analyze the charts and not manually open a historical chart, intra day chart, and put in the settings I want. By the time I have done all that I can forget about day trading.

With the symbol link group, I also can't set different color thumb tags for different symbol groups either.

You know you can have multiple color groups of windows open and NOT have the portfolio window linked.  To change the symbol in one group, you either drag a symbol to one of the windows in the group, or just type the symbol.  Setting link color per symbol would be unmanageable.  I don't see a workable user interface for this.
