Volume Alert

In a past program there was an alert(column) for volume. It would be triggered when the volume was equal or exceeded a certain number of shares.  I found it very helpful, because as we all know volume usually precedes price.  I am assuming this alert is not available in Medved Trader because I cannot find it in Alert Types?

Bruce, we never had a volume alert column. However, we actually can implement one now - where you specify X volume in Y minutes where X is either absolute, or percent. Similar to the price Moving alert.  I added it to the todo list.

Thanks Jerry! Just to clarify, will there be an option to set an alert for X volume regardless of a specific time frame? For example, if I set a volume alert for 200K shares it will  trigger only when the total daily volume exceeds 200k.

though we could do that, I see that type of absolute alert on volume of limited use. The alert triggering at 10AM may mean something, while at 3:30 may just indicate low volume.  "high volume" is usually meaningful within a particular timeframe

Implemented the volume alert. You can specify the alert to trigger when volume increases by X in Y time. If you just want to be notified when volume reaches X, leave the time as 00:00
