New Interactive Brokers API (latest beta)

Am curious about these two updates to the latest beta:

CHANGED - SITE CONFIG - INTERACTIVE BROKERS - Level II for stocks should have far more data now
CHANGED - SITE CONFIG - INTERACTIVE BROKERS - Updated to use their new API

What's been added and is their API worth a lick now? Is it still 100 max symbols? I know their API has been notoriously bad for ages. Only curious because they have very affordable Totalview so I'm wondering if it's worth a shot. TD's free L2 is just too slow for my needs and DX is a lil pricey.

Thx

they change their API all the time. most of the changes are really not relevant to us. However, sometimes there is something new and to use it, we have to update to the new API, which can have other implications. So

1) need to make sure that everything works OK

2) the reason I bothered updating is because the new API supports Level II/TotalView which the old stuff as you know did not

I just saw this myself. I'm currently trying out Medved and many other software that inferface with IB and third party data vendor such as DXfeed/IQfeed/QuoteMedia.

I must say that i find Medved very, very nice out of all offers so far!

If there is any way to have the complete access to L2 packages IB sells in a third party software with no non-sens order execution capabilities it would be very very good.

The equities order books IB offers are very complete and i'd miss them.

IB ARCA/CBOE BZX/ARCA/BX/t-open-view/NYSEdepth + Quotemedia or Dxfeed for tick and historical backfill would be a very as close as perfection as it could get really.

I'll give a try to the Beta next morning for sure! Thanks!

for Level II with IB, definitely want the beta. Pretty sure the stuff MT shows is same as in TWS now.

Ohhh yesss! In fact the L2 was already working better than many other third party IB-interfacing API. NSDQ was showing depth - it was just subjectively slower than on TWS. Now if all the other books could could, even if only ARCA, it'd be the best TWS alternative for equities as far as i am concerned. I'm testing out pretty much all available datafeeds and while sure, IQfeed is cliquety fast on the L2, it's missing information. What puzzle me is that on TWS, using the booktrader/dom, the data seems to come in fast and not so much in IB's market depth or market depth trader. Then there is their time and sales and their chart that are clunkier than Tradingview using a web browser. Oh well. You have a new subscriber; i'll test inside and out the new feature! Thanks lots!

Update - For anyone reading this; it totally works: the L2/DOM shows the same depth info as TWS's market depth trader and booktrader but in a much more usable and uncluttered interface than TWS. I would say that Medved coupled with Quotemedia for histo/backfill/L1 and IB's Depth galore is very hard to beat. It's alot of punch for the money.
