Can't connect to Interactive Brokers

I can't get MT to connect to IB. I'm getting the msg Account validation failed to connect.

In the Data Source/Configure Acct screen I show:

API client ID: 0

TWS IP Address: 127.0.0.1

TWS Socket Port: 7496

In the Trading/Accounts screen I show:

Login Nickname: my IB username

API client ID: 0

TWS IP Address: <blank> (I tried using 127.0.0.1 but that didn't work either)

TWS Socket Port: 7496

The API Settings in TWS match the MT instructions. I set the Socket Port to 7496 (was 7497.).

What am I missing?

When I wrote the note above I had MT running on a different PC than IB TWS. I opened MT on the same PC as TWS and I was able to find my IB accounts. Since I'm using your free license I disabled two of my three accounts. I have some type of connection to IB but the data stream is not coming into MT.

MT shows my IB account number but does not show a box for my IB password. How can I input my PW?

Does IB allow a 3rd party app to run on a PC other than the one that TWS is running on?

I deleted my Ameritrade account from MT but when I open MT a window pops up asking for my AMTrade account number and PW.  How can I remove any connection to AmTrade?

you don't input IB password into MT. You login to TWS and MT connect to it. As for connection with MT on one PC and TWS on another, you would need to enter the IP address of the PC running TWS into MT and the IP address of the PC running MT into TWS as safe IP. HOWEVER: I have also encountered situation where had to do stuff to allow the connection through the firewall. 

By far the easiest is to just run on the same computer, not have much open in TWS and just minimize it.
