  1. i think i misunderstood "clear alert"; i assume it removed the trendline alert. but it seems like clearing the alert just resets it. So if I say clear the alert and restart after an hour...it would keep the trendline alert active and retrigger after an hour?
  2. The scan is informational only; tell me when stocks are near moving averages, etc. but they don't produce alerts. Only alerts I have are trendline breaks. I did not restart MT today. Usually leave it on overnight.
  3. Let me add to the above to avoid my own confusion. It DID trigger YESTERDAY at 9:30. But clear after is set to "NONE" so it should have retriggered today as best as I know. Given that it did not trigger I'm thinking maybe it was the scan because another stock on the same list also did not trigger this morning. Please let me know or suggest what you'd need to diagnose. Thanks
  4. Question about alerts. I have a long watchlist with many of the items having alerts on trendline breaks. I find that a number of them did not fire today. I had a scan actively running on that watchlist. Would that interfere? Not sure if it will help but I attached picture of the watchlist, the alert on the screen and the alert log
  5. I do swing trading and spend a lgood amount of time collecting external data (earnings, etc) into a spreadsheet. I'd like to be able to go through the spreadsheet and click on a row and have it update the MedVed active chart. I think I was able to get this to work using: http://127.0.0.1:16239/req?SetLinkedSymbol(DELL,GRAY) But each time i send it the "OK" opens up in a new browser window. This may be an excel thing but wasn't sure if there was a way to supress the response so i could just click anywhere in my list and go up and down w/o the "OK" coming back and opening a window. Or, if there was another way to do this that was better. Thanks
  6. Thanks Mike - that worked. It's odd because it worked the other way (w/o the D's) for at least a year or so and stopped working sometime in the last 3 months.
  7. I have a paintbar on my daily chart that paints horizontal lines at key phycological levels like 100M valuation, 500M valuation, etc. by using a variable called SymbolData.SharesOutstanding It worked for a long time well but I just noticed it's no longer showing on my screen. I also noticed that when the paintbar displays along the top there is a red "X" to the right of it, although the paintbar editor does not give me an error. It's possible I messed something up; but also it's possible I guess you removed support for SymbolData.SharesOutstanding or changed something? My data is from TDAmeritrade and also Interactive Brokers as a backup. Thanks
  8. Hi, I raised this sometime back but couldn't find the exact consistent reason but I see it now. I'm connected to TD AMeritrade for data. If I keep MT on overnight, premarket data on the daily charts feeds into the bar from the day before rather than start a new bar. If I close MT and then reopen - today I'm doing it at 8:30AM EST. Below is a screenshot of the same stock before I close MT this morning and then after I reopen it (the 2nd chart is before, 1st chart after) You can see on the chart with one green gap bar that the price is 91.70. .. that is correct, except it is showing yesterday and premarket today all in one bar. After I close MT and reopen, it shows it correctly - with 2 bars. I did nothing else other than shut down and reopen at 8:30 this morning
  9. I was playing around w/ the price alert indicator and I like it due to it's ability to be on both historical and intraday charts. I may look to use it rather than as many trendline alerts. One question. Would it be possible to provide a way that if someone is on a chart and right clicks and picks price alert - to add it at the current price w/o having to navigate the dialog box that pops up first? This would save time. Or maybe add a way via a hotkey to do it instead of right clicking and going through the dialog box? This way if I'm on a chart and want to add an alert I simply click something, it pops the alert on the screen at the current location and I can drag it to where I want it. Would be much more streamlined if you are going through a number of charts.
  10. Hey Mike: Last July you gave me some code for an after hrs scan that could show / display high after hrs volume. The tread is below. I only use it during earnings season. It's worked great for 3 earnings seasons. I loaded it up today and the scan column is not populating. Maybe I don't remember a piece of the steps so it could be me doing something wrong. But I was wondering if it's possible that updates made in the last 3 or 4 months would require some sort of change to the code?
  11. Here's another from today on the daily chart that did not trigger. The stock was NOV. The picture has the alert settings, the line showing where the alert was and then full alert log (and it's not there). The ticker was in a portfolio that was open all day.
  12. I draw trendlines to set alerts. I am using the version just prior to todays' release. It seems that intraday alerts are working, but that daily alerts are not always firing. I have attached a picture for today of a stock (ZEN) that: a. Went through the alert line b. Was listed in one of 5 open portfolios I have on my screen I have also attached the settings for the alert. Questions to help diagnose: 1. In this case the alert line was breached in prior days. But it did NOT fire today (day on the far right) Would that cause an issue? 2. I have 5 open portfolios with a total of about 300 stocks among those open portofolios and am using TD AMeritrade data feed for real time. Is there a limit to # of stocks that will update daily alerts? 3. I used to use popups and I don't recall them not working. I don't use popups any longer but instead use the alert window. could unchecking popups inadvertently cause the alert not to fire? Note i have not seen any problems with intraday alerts.
  13. Hey guys - Sometime back you added TodayLow as an option when working on the formula in Saved Orders/Hotke. You have PrevClose. Do you think you could add PrevLow to get the low of the day before? A few systems I'm working on right now use the prior day low as the stop. Thanks if possible.
  14. both sound great; i'll check that out.

    Alert Window

Hi, I set potential entry alerts on a number of symbols and on a busy morning may have 7 to 10 fire off in the morning. I want to be able to quickly look at my group of charts (weekly/daily/intraday) on my screen as the symbols pop up. In my system all charts are attached into one Symbol Link Group. I can't find a way from the alerts to - with one click - open that symbol on my charts. The best I can find so far is to click on the Link Group icon and scroll to the correct link group. Is there anyway you'd consider adding a default link group to the setup of alerts and a way to have that be the default on the alert screen so one click and I could look at the chart and move onto the next symbol? Or some other way to do this?
  16. No problem; appreciate the help
  17. Hi Donald... I fumbled my way through this but was ultimately able to follow. Thanks for the directions. I do have a question - you set the conditional order - the stop - to a limit. Wouldn't that trigger right away? Shouldn't it be a STOP MARKET order? I wasn't sure whether you do this or were just trying to explain... but seems like the OTA part should be a stop unless I'm not fully understanding. Thanks for your help.
  18. Thanks! I'll give it a try.
  19. Is there a way to set a buy order along with a related stop order from the chart trading. For instance, using the MSFT chart for tonight, the stock is at 304.30. If I wanted to set it up before market opened that at 305 it triggered a buy and automatically had a stop at 297, can i do that using the chart trader? I sometimes have a few charts I want to buy on breakouts and rather than fumble around in the first few minutes each day would rather just set these ahead of time and let them trigger if they do.
  20. I'm interested in testing out a concept that would require the stocks beta value as part of a formula. I looked but didn't see anything in the help but I assume the stock's beta is not something available or that we can access?
  21. Mike; thanks for adding this in. Seems small but nice not to have those diagonal lines.
  22. Hi, is there any way to hide or disable the vertical/diagonal lines that show when you use the fib tools? If not, is it possible in a future release to add a checkbox to those tools to hide them or allow me to color them differently than the horizontal lines so I can make them the background color? I use them regularly and may have a few sets of fibs on a chart and the vertical/diagonal lines get in the way of seeing the chart clearly. Thanks
  23. Hi guys - the other day I asked about how to set up a stop when i also place an order. This is what I ended up doing. It places the order but the stop price is not set right stop price with the broker. The stop price was I think the bid but the actual low of day which much lower. You can see it bought then sold 3 seconds later. Can you let me know what I'm doing wrong with the configuration? Again; my goal is to send over an order and the nhave the stop set at low of day. Thanks
