stock777
Hate to pile it on here, but getting high cpu usage (15% steady) which is a good 10% more than normal. I reloaded the production version but same issue. Any way for me to tell what in MT is causing it ?
Jerry Medved
the most common CPU usage would be charts and scanning. Make any changes there?
stock777
no changes and I have charts set to minimum updating speed , only a few scans running. ill have to see if any of those scans are causing it
stock777
After hours now with very little flow, and still pinned at at 15% none of my other platforms are using much as you can see
stock777
tried something that has been an issue in the past. compulsive programmer in me ;-))) deleted the sdata.bin file , that was 2 gig seems to have stopped the cpu hog might be bad data in there doing something nasty
Jerry Medved
Hm thats very odd. I cannot think of anything that would be running like that afterhours. only thing I can think of is if there is some error, repeating, and that would definitely cause high CPU. send me a log. Jerry Medved
you have News running - if you see this again, turn off all news sources: Yahoo, Ally, Webull. Does the CPU usage subside?
stock777
I will. But news is still running and no problem , very low usage now with fresh sdata
stock777
Think it might be Yahoo Finance the worst of the news cpu issues, but much less cpu overall with all news turned off What the story ? Doesn't seem like this would be a cpu hog Edited June 18, 2020 by stock777
Jerry Medved
Yahoo is a snapshot source - if you have a lot of symbols to get news on, MT has to get a page for each symbol and parse it, and do that every time it needs to update. LOTS of processing.
stock777
Just saw the ans: Thought there was a more efficient way to get news from them than downloading a web page and extracting it . Yeah, for 1000's of symbols, Im surprised not more of a hog .
