Portfolio and historical charts show after hours not regular hours closing price.

 

Intraday charts show regular hours close

Portfolio does not restrict display in any way - it just shows the most current price, regardless of session.  Charts do restrict based on the timeframe for the specific symbol, thus the difference.

OK, but didn't I already answer this?  Ameritrade for example doesn't send "Close price" It sends quotes. thats all.  We cannot even assume that the first quote at 4:00 is the close price. And we cannot go back and edit the quotes after the fact, once the "close" price is published, for those datafeeds that do send it,

Sorry but I still don't understand.

 

Where does the high low close data on historical charts come from?

 

If I choose backfill from yahoo on a historical chart does the last days'  close come from there?

For the historical charts MT has an option (on by default) for real-time updates. If selected, the last candle is built from the level I quote Open, High, Low, and Last. That would include after-hours data. If you don't want that, you can turn off that option on SETTINGS / Charts / General screen.

A  suggestion: 

 

 That you make this the default during regular trading hours but turn it off outside rth.

that would just add more confusion because come 4:01 suddenly the chart shows stale data for the last candle and would remain so until the Hist Backfill site updates AND you backfill.
