jschwa Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Portfolio and historical charts show after hours not regular hours closing price. Intraday charts show regular hours close Quote
Jerry Medved Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Portfolio does not restrict display in any way - it just shows the most current price, regardless of session. Charts do restrict based on the timeframe for the specific symbol, thus the difference. Quote
jschwa Posted June 6, 2014 Author Report Posted June 6, 2014 For instance today: MUA Google finance close 12.96 Ameritrade close 12.96 MT intraday chart 12.957 MT historical chart 12.84 MTportfolio ameritrade feed Raw data 06/06/14 15:59:28 12.957 12.92 12.96 100 06/06/14 16:00:00 12.957 12.92 12.96 100 06/06/14 16:00:00 12.93 12.92 12.96 200 06/06/14 16:05:08 12.93 12.71 14.50 0 06/06/14 17:53:52 12.84 12.71 14.50 0 Quote
Jerry Medved Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 OK, but didn't I already answer this? Ameritrade for example doesn't send "Close price" It sends quotes. thats all. We cannot even assume that the first quote at 4:00 is the close price. And we cannot go back and edit the quotes after the fact, once the "close" price is published, for those datafeeds that do send it, Quote
jschwa Posted June 8, 2014 Author Report Posted June 8, 2014 Sorry but I still don't understand. Where does the high low close data on historical charts come from? If I choose backfill from yahoo on a historical chart does the last days' close come from there? Thanks JS Quote
Jerry Medved Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 For the historical charts MT has an option (on by default) for real-time updates. If selected, the last candle is built from the level I quote Open, High, Low, and Last. That would include after-hours data. If you don't want that, you can turn off that option on SETTINGS / Charts / General screen. Quote
jschwa Posted June 8, 2014 Author Report Posted June 8, 2014 Ok. That works fine. Thanks much JS Quote
jschwa Posted June 23, 2014 Author Report Posted June 23, 2014 A suggestion: That you make this the default during regular trading hours but turn it off outside rth. Quote
Jerry Medved Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 that would just add more confusion because come 4:01 suddenly the chart shows stale data for the last candle and would remain so until the Hist Backfill site updates AND you backfill. Quote
