  1. The only time I need to backfill everything is if I start the day after the market open , or as mentioned if QT (now MT) crashes for some reason and loses the data. When I say backfill all, I am referring to ONLY open portfolio windows, certainly not ones that are not being displayed. I keep a lot of symbols on display (100 or so), but in total I think it takes less than 2 minutes to backfill them all. Certainly not a problem for the servers. As you suggest, an option to select the portfolios to backfill would be an improvement. Or, if the notion of only backfilling OPEN portfolios is acceptable, an option for that.
  2. Sent! A lot of symbols yes, but Im running the exact same setup on QT just so you know.
  3. Did all the exclusions, still seeing the same high 20-30% constant cpu. Even disabled real time protection on MSE, no diff Thinkorswim & IB running on same machine , neither even 1/2 that on a consistent basis . Old QT (stocks.exe) running at 5%? and doing more actually, than MT. Tried disabling global alerts, not it. Somethings not right , just updating symbols and 5 charts, 2 Level 2s'
  4. Ive wasted 10 years of my life pressing BF on all 5 or 6 ports I use. Every day , sometimes more if QT crashes. Really would like to see a BF all, maybe 10 years ago it was too much for the servers. today, not the case imo. Isnt the backfill only requesting missing data or do you just ask for everything over again?
  5. A bit more would be ok, this is 5X more. not ok ;-). Yes I do use MSE, should I exclude MT, I konw I did that with QT . Is that why so high CPU?
  6. Running QT & MT at the same time with basically the same data, much heavier MT usage vs QT, something I would not have expected to see . QT at 5-6% MT 25% seeing higher ram usage as well, not as big an issue.
  7. Please tell me there's a backfill all. I don't see it. Pet peeve with QT was you have to backfill every port window separately. It would suck badly if that was the case with MT
  8. Starting to recreate my QT setup under MT. Slow going but I think it will be worth it. First suggestion, I set up a simple global 1% move alert. Right away I get a notice for the NYSE-TICK symbol I have in one of the ports. Where a value fluctuates wildly all day, you wouldn't want a Global alert to trigger. So an 'exclude this symbol from future alerts' on the popup would be a good thing to add.
  9. You're quick, I just thought to check the original email which of course, still works ;-)
  10. Could you send me the link?
  11. I have MT installed in a VM , and looked over the latest build . Some very nice new features , I like the mini chart view , and the mirror draw in particular. Nice improvements in the alerts as well. Custom indicators coming eventually? Saw a mention of 'copying the folder' an another thread, will MT work if I copy the folder to my production machine, or does it need to be installed from the original file?
  12. lol, im afraid to switch I looked at it a long while back. send me the link for the latest beta, I'll see if I can start using it.
  13. Would be nice to have a "confirm" before closing a window feature. Find it too easy to accidentally close a window. Should be window specific (ie, feature selectable on a per window basis)
  14. Still have problems using global in old QT. Thats why I stopped using it . The alert processing thread crashes after a while. Kills alerts, wont close cleanly on exit. Also kills chart linking oddly enough . Yep, this has been an issue all along., too late to fix it I realize.
  15. You know, I tried that years ago and either had trouble with it, or couldnt figure something out. Just tried it again, seems to work on last size column. Maybe I didnt do it right the first time and just gave up. I vaguely recall some crashing issues with GLOBAL but it was a long long time ago on a diff computer. I havent used the new IB t&s feature yet, apparently you open a t&s window and add symbols to it, it consolidates them all into one stream, as I suggested.
  16. IB must read this board, they just added this feature. There's a few things MT needs to be world class. Consolidated t&s AND block alerts /trade alerts in a TEXT WINDOW, not just audio. The way QT does it you have to set up an audio alert for EVERY stock you want to track, and there's no TEXT alert to go with it.
  17. that impressed , huh.
  18. hi Jerry. I must admit I haven't been using the new MT for daily use, waiting until 90% of the functionality is there, specifically custom indicators. Are we there yet? Ok, here's something I'd like to see. This is a feature that was present in the old WATCHER Soes software I used back in the day. They would show quote changes (of course , that was pre decimal, and pre hft) for the ENTIRE Nasdaq market. Now we don't need that , but it would be very useful to have a single Time and Sales window for the entire live portfolio, filterable by trade size, so you could see important movement/action of any stock you are watching. As it is , spotting action is hit and miss, for anyone watching more than a handful of tickers. A single screen with all trades scrolling might be busy, but with a size filter you would only have to watch ONE window, not a dozen. I think daytraders would appreciate it.
  19. 1 Beta ordered. Ready to take a look at MT. Thanks.
