Billy Booger
Is there a way to getting the "100%, 50%, 25%, etc... " quantity buttons to be on the chart for initiating a fresh trade directly off the chart?
Mike Medved
Do you mean 100% 50% etc of the current position? Take a look at hotkeys/saved orders, making them a button is one of the options.
Billy Booger
Yes, that is what I meant. And I'll read though the hotkeys section. But.... I run a hotkeys program for multitabling poker. So please fill me in on the alternatives if you can. Just in case I can't run both that and Medved's hotkeys simultaneously. Billy Booger
So a "Saved Order" doesn't get made from scratch- it starts as a hot key you make, and then you check the "saved order" box for said hotkey. Then you can make it appear in the chart window? Have I got that right? Oh, and what is a "trade bead"?
Mike Medved
You can make it appear in a chart window by giving it a color and a button text. Trade beads (I need to write help for them) - you turn them on the Trading tab in chart under "Trading Settings" - they show up on the right of the chart and you can set up to 20 beads. Then you can refer to them in hotkeys as bead(1) bead(2) etc.
Jerry Medved
wait a sec - if you are doing CRYPTO, then if you show the balances on the DOM, there will be corresponding 25%, 50%, 75% links, plus the total of the crypto you own, which if clicked would be 100%
Billy Booger
Thanks guys. I'm putting together some "saved trades" right now. Now my biggest problem is that my quantities entered when I use these "% of position" keys are "too accurate". And I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to configure the "rounding" correctly. Does that have to be customized for each coin to work right? Some coins are 4 cents while others are 140 bucks. If I say "round to the nearest 1" , is that going to produce an acceptable quantity for both? I don't know where I set it last but I'm getting a lot of quantities that read like 1478.900231 and stuff like that. Does "round to 1000" mean round everything to nearest .0001 or does it mean round 14,872 to 14,870 and round 9 down to zero? And is there a way to get the main window to show my long holdings in terms of dollars and not just number of coins?
Jerry Medved
Round to 1,000 means actual 1000. Keep in mind that MT is used for stocks and futures as well as crypto. As far as the too accurate error, which exchange are you using? Holdings USD, right now you cannot do that. In the future, after we do another project that has to do with forex, we should be able to update to include that capability

Support is very good here. So when I click "Trade Beads for Hotkeys", a margin opens up on the right side of my chart window. Nothing is there yet, so I was wondering how to create them. Or are there some preset ones? Also, I'm trying to create a saved order for "Sell 40%". In the action window, I tried Pos*.4 , Posx.4, and Pos/2.5, and they all were bad expressions. Is there a guide somewhere to writing these correctly? And could you tell me what "Spinstructions" and "XOnChart" mean in the "Saved Order Editor"? Jerry Medved
Trade Beads - You click on the line on the left side of the trade beads panel to set a "bead" at whatever price. Pos - might need to look how we handle that for crypto. I think it may not be working right now. SpInstructions - Special Instructions - for the most part this is used for stocks, futures for things like "Fill or Kill", "All or None" and other flags. I think the only relevant one for Contbase are "Post Only" and FOK (Fill or Kill). XOnChart - special field for hotkeys that get executed on charts - determines (from 0 = left, to 100 = right) where on the chart the trade capsule is placed. Cosmetic only - has no impact on the order.

A bit inconvenient, but not a really big problem. My "saved" sell orders are working nicely.
Billy Booger
I can't make a "saved order" buy key because it can't seem to accept USD as an input parameter. Is there a way to do this through the "saved orders" route? The preset keys only go down to 25% and I wanted to make something smaller. Jerry Medved
1) POS/2.5 - I checked here - seems to work fine without any special change. Can you give me a specific example - symbol, position size, window you are doing this on, and exact result? 2) I do not quite understand what USD has to do with anything. You are operating in whatever symbol is on the chart.. Please give me exactly what you are trying to do.
Jerry Medved
25% of the position would be Pos * 0.25 40% of the position would be Pos * 0.

Wish I woulda tried that earlier. Now my sell keys are perfect. Sorry about that.

On the trade ticket, right below the ribbon, is a row of values that appear if you check the box "show balances" from the "view" dropdown. Halfway across this row it says "USD (available balance) 25%, 50%,75%". These buttons use USD to create a new buy order, instead of using quantity. When I hit the "view" dropdown on the chart , I can't find this feature. and I'm trying to find a way to create "saved orders" on the chart that do what these buttons on the trade ticket do. Jerry Medved
ok, I see. what you are looking for is CurrencyPos Keep in mind that with Crypto symbols you are always working with a pair of currencies. The first one is "Symbol" being traded. The 2nd one is the currency in which the trade is quoted and paid. So if you are trading #BTC.USD, then Pos variable has your BTC position and CurrencyPos your USD position.
Billy Booger
So far, it's not translating the Currency amount in terms of coins. In other words, if Currency Available is $100 and I have quantity set for CurrencyPos/10 it will enter 10BTC instead of $10 worth of Bitcoin.
Jerry Medved
Of course it would.. in your example, CurrencyPos = 100 100/10 = 10 If you want to convert to $100 worth of Bitcoin, then divide it by the price
Billy Booger
Sorry. I'll make sure to check through all the variables available next time. Thanks. My buy orders are all just like I want now and they're working good.
