Any luck ?
I need to do something to get this working tonight.
Rolling back seems the easiest fix until we can figure out the problem (Im assuming that will fix it 🙄)

This is the stack for that process
dont think anything should be using 6-8% cpu

PS , if i restore from a backup, what dirs do i need to use . Is it just the main program DIR, or some of the others?
Over my pay grade, but was browsing process explorer for clues as to where the hang is.
This looks suspicious, top line
-

-
Keep in mind Ive made no changes other than this months Windows Update over the weekend. And MT seemed to run well enough today, before updating to the new prod version .
I use the built in Microsoft Defender, and nothing else.
I added any dirs to the exclusions that werent there, and no diff in the problem.
Whats the easiest way for me to rollback to the previous beta . I can restore from a recent drive backup but if theres a more direct way, lets try that
-
First time in a long while I've seen problems like this.
I thought I noticed something tonight even on the latest beta before updating , but used it all day today and no issues.
Loaded up the new prod build and not usable.
High CPU, not responding errors on various windows in task manager, very slow response to any menu request or clicking on a chart. Takes up to a minute for the settings menu to come up. seems like theres some process running in hard loop
Tried all the easy stuff.
1) deleted the sdata.bin and snews database
2) loaded a backup of settings from last week
3) rebooted pc
No luck with any of those .
I sent the log along as well.
-
Notice we're not getting a backfill on the trading from 4am to 7am EST , using Ameritrade . The TOS platform has this data.
-
I mention not fixing things as they still have probably dozens if not over a hundred symbols that do not historical backfill correctly.
I run into them all the time and have to use Yahoo
Not practical to forward a list, they need to do this properly at their end . Is this rocket science ?
-
PS I guess that dont like fixing things over there , same bug where the Days Change of the @ES contract stops displaying. Seems to happen rollover time . Have to relog in to AMTD to get the quote change back . Price not affected, just the net change
-
They dont seem to adjust the old prices for rollover affect , screwing up the chart. IB continuous does.
Dont see a way to manually adjust in MT other than the split function, which seems awkward at best
-
Maybe this gives you a clue
Had the alerts turned off, when the pc went to sleep overnight
On wake, the date/time column was properly sized as I left it . Stayed that way for quite a while
As soon as restarted the Alerts, it reverted to full size
-
yeah, a lot of overhead for that feed.
-
Cut off the subs to only a few open portfolios , 60 symbols
On relog , theres a blast of data, then drops to zero
With the high sub count , stream of data is constant.
Do you have to continuously poll these guys ?
-
I see the CNBC news feed allows a lot of subscribed tickers. (i have 4000), since There are very few actual headlines, but a constant 50-100k /sec bandwith usage.
much higher than ameritrade
is this normal ??
Do i need to subscribe to all those tickers for CNBC feed , or not ?
-
Still doing that , but very randomly . Sometimes no change on wake. Tough to debug, unless you know what internal code might be triggering it .
What would cause a window to reset on wake from sleep. None of the other objects do this, only the Alert windows
The auto size and fit to col are turned off
-
Would be nice to color code the headline as well as the symbol, on a triggered headline alert
-
Was gonna suggest that , you're a step ahead.
I figured out how it happened. I have a hotkey for that hide indicator function . . I usually use it on my main chart , before doing a screen shot.
Must have been focused on the chart in question and didnt realize it , when I pressed the hotkey .
I didn't think of the Compare Symbol as an indicator, per se, so it didnt dawn on me that this was the issue.
-
Yep, wasn't so far off when I figured I pressed something inadvertently . no idea how I did that , I rarely if ever even use that menu
-
Its weird, I have another chart doing the same thing with different symbols and its fine
lol, thought maybe I pressed a secret hotkey to kill the broken one
-
Something odd , I have a chart with the XLF as base and other s&p sector symbols as Compare Symbols
all of a sudden, the compared symbols show as hidden, even though they ARE NOT set to hidden .
Cant get them back .
Rather than just rebuild the chart, lets figure out why
Also attaching the saved chart template
-
loaded up the new beta, bar size looks ok so far, but SHOW CURRENT value is not updating correctly with total volume (does not match normal volume indicator or actual bar size )
-
Whats with the short notice. Did ally blindside you?
-
I hate to keep bugging you guys , maybe I should call myself and ask them what their problem is
Why is the TOS platform up to date with recent symbols but not the api
ARRY , trading for 7 days now, 1 bar backfill on the api, fine on TOS
-
All three alert boxes did the column resize today on wake from sleep mode All the options to autosize or fit are deselected .
Must be something in the code (yours or more likely Windows) thats resetting itself .
Very slow response and high cpu in new production version

Not sure why I didnt hear back from you so went ahead tried restoring the prev working version (only the main program directory) , which did not seem to help. No idea how this went to crap so fast
Loaded the BASIC layout, and that of course has no problem with cpu.
Restored successively older layouts of mine until one finally seemed relatively stable, and at least I could use the program.
Noticed that one very busy thread (posted in the prev message) is still chewing cpu with a big difference, the usage ebbs and flows, where in the bad layouts , the usage is a CONSTANT 6-8%, causing severe unresponsiveness.
So theres something in my layout that all of a sudden is not playing nice.
