  1. Or maybe just have the option of adding the % symbol for each row to the %G and %Ch columns?
  2. Hi Jerry, thanks for the quick response. In QT I've always used (and am still using) the ones that are set up as double columns. The one is called Value Change and the other is just labeled Gain, but both of these have two columns under them. Under Value Change the left column shows a number like +1.45% and the right column just shows 32. Under Gain the left column shows a number like -1.11% and the right column shows -25. I don't need this to be duplicated just as it is in QT, but I'm very used to seeing the % symbol on each row. What would work fine is just to offer the %G and %Ch columns with an alternate that shows the % symbol on each row. Would take up less column space than what I'm using in QT, and no more space than a couple of narrow columns that are just a bit wider than what you have in MT now.
  3. Any chance you could maybe get the index panel in there after trading and alerts? Thanks.
  4. This may be something that just hasn’t been implemented yet. I’m setting up a default portfolio in MT and would like to have the choice of having the Ch% and G% columns show the % symbol on each row like I have them in QT. For me it keeps it from being a sea of numbers when these columns are next to the Ch$ and G$. Thanks, Dave
  5. Hey Jerry, I can see your point, although I was just thinking of it as an option that could be chosen, just like the fib button or such. Seems the horizontal space of the ribbon is going to be self-limiting anyway by the overall width of any particular window, and anyone is going to have to pick and choose what's important to them... Thanks, Dave
  6. Hey Jerry, Thanks MUCH for the info on the QAT. I didn't realize it could do that, and that's PERFECT for what I was wanting to do. Maybe this is all semantics, as that's also exactly the kind of "toolbar" thing I was thinking about to serve my needs. And a very efficient and elegant solution, I might add. You da man! :-) So I've moved the portfolio drop-down there, along with some other things on both the portfolio window and charts. The only thing I've noticed is that unlike everything else I tried, the + zoom in and - zoom out shows the "add to quick access toolbar" greyed out for some reason and I can't add them. Of course I can still use the +/- keys, but is there somethng else I need to do for those if I want to add them? Thanks, Dave
  7. Thanks Jerry. Understood on 3), 4), and 6). I'm certainly not married to toolbars at all, but am a bit curious why you're so strong about not having them? And should I assume that 5) and 8) are going to remain status quo, or are you still pondering? On the others I probably need to provide some clarification: 1) Here all I meant was that in QT, the little $ logo symbol shows up on the far right side of the taskbar when the app is running, alongside any other logo symbols for other apps that are open (Outlook, etc.). I jsut click on that to maximize the QT windows. Just seems nice to have it over there by itself rather another one of possibly many other open windows during the day on the majority of the taskbar to the left. 2) I see the added button, thanks. That's helpful, but it's really not the most important part of what I was asking for. In QT I always leave the top panel open (which is actually pretty narrow). It has the portfolio dropdown and edit button right there for immediate access all the time, which I've admittedly grown accustomed to. In MT I would like to not have to open the "Main" tab everytime I want to switch to a different portfolio/ watchlist. Maybe worse yet would be to have to keep "Main" open all the time. Conceptually, the drop down menu to the right of the word "Testing" with the edit button to the right of it it would be ideal. I can appreciate that maybe that can't happen, but is there any way to accomplish what I'm talking about? 7) I certainly can use the +/-, or continue using the number keys as I more typically do. I guess I was thinking about TOS, and while that app is pretty uninspired in my opinion, it does have the simple zoom buttons at the bottom left of the charts which is pretty handy. Of course it offers no alternatives either :-). Thanks, Dave
  8. Hey Jerry, what I mean by the polygon thing is like what you've now done to an indicator like CCI, where the peaks above 100 and the valleys below -100 are filled in with color (these filled color areas I think of as enclosed polygons, but I guess more accurately are just enclosed areas). I'm just asking if the same could be done for RSI above the 70 and below the 30? And now after playing around with the horizontal line indicator I totally get what it's supposed to do. Very cool tool indeed. And I just checked in QT and while it's much simpler, I'm embarrassed to say I never "discovered" it there before :-).
  9. Understood on all counts, thanks Jerry.
  10. Thanks Jerry, that should work fine.
  11. Can that be re-thought and have a separate way to close it? To me it's a pretty big deal, as there's no issue like this in QT. Or at least if it's minimized, make it stay minimized like the minimized charts so it's not coming up as an annoyance everytime I maximize all the windows (which I do frequently during the day)? Thanks.
  12. I'm assuming that you'll have Keltner channels as part of the mix at some point? Also, it would be nice to have the same polygon screen effect for RSI as indicators like CCI. Maybe that's in the works too? Also, I'm curious about the "Horizontal Line" indicator... when I select it I would expect it to show a horizontal line that can be dragged up and down, with the value shown wherever it lands. But nothing is shown on the chart. What am I missing? Thanks, Dave
  13. I’m sure I’m missing something simple, but I can’t figure out how to close the dashboard once it’s opened. Keeping it open when I minimize all the windows is a nuisance as it always comes up when I bring everything back up. I typically would keep it closed most of the time. Thanks, Dave
  14. This might be a good place to ask this portfolio question. When I try to drag and drop a symbol in the portfolio up or down, the red bar shows where the intended landing spot is, but nothing happens most of the time and the symbol just stays put. Sometimes it will move, but if it does it will be two or three spots away from where the red bar. I can drag them easily up or down in the portfolio management window, but I presume by design those positions are not reflected in the live portfolio. And this issue does not happen in a watch list. Also, I noticed that the width of columns for numbers (like volume) are not currently self-adjusting for the number width. I’m assuming that this is just a tweak yet to be implemented? As an aside, I’m curious if the only difference between a portfolio and watch list is the addition of the P&L columns in the portfolio?
  15. Just got into MT beta the last week, and lots to like here. The app is easily as intuitive and user-friendly as QT. The super narrow window borders are a great addition. Other much appreciated improvements are apparent in the charting – ability to drag and drop indictors above, below and into a chart, adjustable screening effects on indicators like Bollinger bands, ease of changing the vertical chart spacing and extra space on the horizontal, easy editing of fib lines, and graphic screening enhancements in indicators like CCI. Very nice! Here are some comments and suggestions on some UI features that might be nice to have: I’m guessing this is already planned, but would be good to have an MT icon symbol show up at startup in the taskbar and function like the one in QT. In the portfolios/ watch lists it would also be nice to have the option of having a portfolio drop-down and edit button within the ribbon itself. Then one wouldn’t have to have the Main tab open all the time if changing watch lists often during the day. I’m curious if MT will eventually use right-click contextual menus as much as QT. I’m so used to them that now making a change to a portfolio by having to go through the top menu seems very tedious. If not, maybe toolbars? (see comment below). Toolbars (maybe down the road): Would be nice to have a menu of possible tool buttons that could be dragged and dropped into a toolbar. This toolbar could then be docked at the top of a chart, maybe morphing into another narrow ribbon, or likewise snap to the side or bottom. Having global settings might be nice if it was desirable to apply the same toolbar to all charts. Seems this might also lend itself nicely to some future cloud version of MT, where contextual menus wouldn’t be possible. Modification to changing time frames using number keys - seems confusing to have calendar time periods followed by bars followed by calendar periods. Would prefer to have a choice to set up as either calendar time periods or bars, and then the keyed numbers control one or the other. Or if this isn’t possible, at least maybe have the bars follow the calendar time periods and not be between them? For the charts it might be good to be able to have a User Defined Color Set as a default setting that can be applied to all new charts. Also for charts I think it would be handy to have the zoom in/ zoom out (+/-) symbols in the ribbon itself (or top of chart) for easy access without having to open the menu every time if this was the interface one preferred for changing time frames. Also down the road might be helpful to have the line that separates one indicator from another (if more than one indicator is shown above or below the chart) be able to snap into set positions when moving up or down. This would make it easier to have the lines line up if it’s desired to have same size indicator windows when charts are side by side.
  16. Super! I just got your email for the download for MT beta, and look forward to checking it out...
  17. Hey Guys, saw your post about the first trade on MT... Congrats! I'm still hanging in there using QT daily as I have for years (yep, it's that good), and certainly looking forward to the MT release. And though not a super techie it would be great to get a beta copy to check out and start getting familiar with the differences in the platforms. And I'll be happy to offer some feedback on anything that jumps out at me in the process. Thanks, Dave.
  18. I'm a long time user of QT, and have had the thought more than once about having at least one of the "lower indicators" being able to display above the chart. So in essence if I was using three "lower indicators", I might have one of them above and two below - keeping the same vertical space requirement as it would with all three below. Not sure if this would even be feasible in the design of MT, but if so, maybe in some future version?
  19. I think this is a great idea, although I'm assuming that any cloud version of MT would probably function as "MT Light"? And the only reason I say that is that the couple of cloud based trading platforms I've played around with - Trade Architect and TradeMonster - don't have any right click contextual menu capabilities, and if that's the norm it would seem it would limit the full range of capabilities in MT. But don't get me wrong - even if that were the case, I still think it was be awesome to have the ability to have some form of MT available to use on an iPad at some point.
  20. Hey Jerry. This was done a couple of different ways as I recall. I would either make a menu choice or choose a toolbar button to allow the “select” function, and then each line or other individual drawing component would be selected by a left mouse click. Once the ones I wanted were selected, then I would typically right click and choose the appropriate contextual menu item for creating the group. (Not unlike the typical Windows individual selection function). More commonly I would want to select an entire smaller drawing, which would then become a component of a larger/more complex drawing. This was done by choosing a “selection polygon” which typically was a simple rectangle that I would draw around the entire drawing with two mouse clicks – one for first corner and the other for the opposite corner. Once the drawing was selected, I would again choose the contextual menu item or toolbar button to create the group, after which it could easily be moved into place within a larger drawing. And the process was the same if wanted to select and bind together several of these groups to make one larger group. It was not uncommon to have many of these nested groups in a typical drawing. And the selection process essentially worked in reverse to unlock the groups or drawings into their original components. Hope this all makes some sense :-).
  21. Thanks for the response. I’m not much of a techie, so really don’t have a feel for what might be involved, and need to clarify that I was thinking more down the road in some future version after all the more basic functionality had been addressed – I may have wrongly assumed that was what this Feature Request category was for (maybe a tad blue sky?). Actually this idea came about after you had mentioned in another post that MT didn’t lend itself to container windows – so was just seeing what else might be possible if it was ever determined that something like this might be an interesting addition.
  22. With the understanding the MT architecture doesn’t lend itself to workspace tabs, I had an idea borrowed from some CAD experience for something that might achieve similar results. Would it be possible to have the ability to select a group of windows that have been snapped together (like several small charts in the same sector, for example) and put them into a grouping that could be simply and quickly locked or unlocked as a unit? Once the group is created (and given a name) it could be moved around as a single unit, but more importantly, the entire group could be minimized to the bottom of the screen as one would an individual chart window. When the group is maximized for viewing, each individual chart’s functions would ideally still be available without having to unlock to access. Of course then when it’s unlocked all the chart windows would function individually again.
  23. Too bad about BigCharts... since TDA did away with it recently I've been using Yahoo, but find that it's very sluggish on some of the indexes - can take a few seconds to fill the chart.
  24. Hey Jerry, thanks. Does that mean you'll have the Ichimoku Cloud indicator and the Trin and Tick capabilities like TOS has?
