Beanbagger
Jerry, Do the news bulbs still work? Just signed for the premium service and notice that they're all grayed out. Thanks
Mike Medved
The Yahoo source has changed in that it only gets news for a particular stock when you're viewing it in the News window. Go to your News sources and select CNBC source.
makincash
Why did you guys remove yahoo from the news alert feed?
Beanbagger
Added CNBC but the bulbs continue to be grayed out except now some are darker gray than others, but no yellow. Is this a bug?
Jerry Medved
there was another required change but I messed up uploading the update. just fixed. Please select FILE / HELP => Check for updates. Let MT update all files, then restart MT, even if nothing was updated.

Yahoo changed their feed and the small, efficient feed doesn't work anymore. Scraping it is too bandwidth expensive.
Beanbagger
So, I did the update but the bulbs are still gray. So I guess my question is...should the bulbs work? or not?
Mike Medved
Well, the bulbs turn yellow for "fresh" news. Add some symbol that should have some - like AAPL. Make sure the CNBC news source is turned on in settings. Do you see a yellow bulb on AAPL?
Beanbagger
No. None of the bulbs are lit, including AAPL. Am I the only one with this issue?
Beanbagger
FYI, I cleared all of the bulbs and within a few minutes they all began to appear, but only gray. I looks like the bulbs with "new" news appear with a bold black outline while the others just appear totally gray. Again, no yellow. Is this a system color issue? Beanbagger
FYI, I just noticed the bulb for ticker symbol "T" just turned yellow. The news was 49 minutes old so I'm guessing there must be an alert threshold that governs the bulb color?
Jerry Medved
I need to get the log file to see what the problem is. Please do the following: Go to FILE / HELP => Send Log/Settings to support menu (from Dashboard or Portfolio) And add this Post’s URL in the comment. Jerry Medved
you don't have anything selected for CNBC. on SETTINGS / DATA SOURCES news, click on CNBC and then on the right side, select what you want, like maybe "Open Windows and Open Portfolios or specific portfolios. Don't just check all portfolios unless you need that since the more symbols have to be checked, the slower it will be
Beanbagger
That seemed to do it although I had to clear the bulbs before it took affect. It looks like I got confused with "data source/configure accounts and "data source/news". Well, all seems to be good now. Thanks for your patience.
