Trading with Percentages

Is it possible when entering an order that MedVed Trader can look for a configured percentage of trades? So allow the platform to calculate the shares based on a percentage of the account size?

Account size is $50,000 

Percentage of Risk: 1% <-- so each trade would be 1% on the equity of my account.

Each trade would be allotted $500 for the trade and used to enter the order based on the Price per share to get you a total share qty being executed.

 

If this feature exist let me know.

you can create hotkeys that compute the QTY based on price and buying power etc..

ok that sounds like what i need. Would you happen to have an example?

Ok right now we don't have a variable in hotkey that is "account value". We do have "Cash" for the account's cash buying power.

(I asked Jerry to add a way to get the account's total value into a system var for a hotkey)

Using the Cash Buying Power you would do something like this:

Is there a way to find all of the variables that are supported through hotkeys?

Another question is could i write a simple C# application to perform as a Hotkey keyboard?

As for C# - no, hotkeys are their own thing. But they are pretty flexible, especially if you do Variables and Conditionals.

Ok So for a Buy i want the ask but for the Sell i want the bid to factory the qty for the sell? Or just flip the action Buy to Sell?

you would want to change the action, but probably also match the bid/ask too if you want to be filled right away

OK can this also be applied to options? Select the Option and enter the order based on the qty it will buy?

yes, hotkeys work regardless of security type though for QTY you would probably want to add the 100 multiplier

floor(Cash*0.01/Ask) if i add 100 it take the quantity and multiplies by that number.  

What do you mean by adding the 100 multiplier?

I mean that you have to multiply the contract price by 100 for options to get what it will cost you.

AHh ok i figured that is what i did.. but not i have to have to hotkeys.. Its ok its just how it works i guess.

Apologies for bringing up this old thread - but is there an variable hotkey that is "account value" now? I don't see anything that resembles it in the variables page, but just want to be sure

Yes, AccountValue is there. So is Cash (Cash Buying Power), OvernightBP and bunch of other stuff
