We connect directly to the server, without using any DLL. The API is documented, though I don't know if they still make it available. DLLs support both market data and trading, but it has been 7 years since I touched them, so don't remember any details

the TDAASTX.DLL is ancient, 32 bit and has not been touched in a long time. We connect direct to the servers, basically what that DLL does. I really don't remember what was in there or how to use it. I would recommend connecting directly as well. Or if you can wait, wait for our API, which will be basically one API that you can use to connect to whatever sources MT supports. TWS API is a monster. That thing is Patches on top of patches. Its good for very specific programming (like yours) but nightmare to deal with for us, where we have to support all of their different security types, features. Symbols.

You would need a subscription. QT was free to TDA clients because TDA owns it. We are an independent company and do not have any special arrangement with TD Ameritrade for their clients, so regular subscription fees would apply. First month is free no matter what. the announcement was for QuoteTracker only. Medved Trader is not effected by that and will continue to function after September.

You can set a chart configuration to be default (not just chart type). Configure one chart the way you want. Then on the VIEW tab on the ribbon, click either "Set as Default", or if you want to reset all existing saved charts, then "Set as Default for all"

No, cannot import charts, lines, or any other settings. Thy are handled completely differently in MT. Only portfolios as for importing, please follow the instructions above. Cannot import directly from the zip files. Extract the PORT.XML file first

The Background option in MT right now works - how is it not working for you exactly? Send your settings to support.

MT cannot read the QT backup files. When you install MT, it should detect if you have QT installed and if it does, it will prompt you to import. If you already have MT installed and didn’t get prompted, you can do so manually, assuming you have QT installed on the same computer Select FILE / IMPORT in MT (on portfolio or Dashboard screen). Set the file type to be “old QT Portfolio Files” on bottom right and then select the PORT.XML located in the QT folder. (It might show up as just “PORT”) If you only have the backup files, then extract the PORT.XML file from there to somewhere on your hard drive first, then import that using the above instructions

@SPT - the Open Interest, Delta, etc fields do not get sent by Questrade over the streaming datafeed. For us to get that, we would have to poll the server for that data for every symbol. I have it on the todo list to look into it.

I looked but really don't see the difference. QT and MT handle the text box almost the same way. MT has more options but the basics are the same. Can you please email support with your settings files and a picture of the MT chart, and if you have it, the QT chart that you are comparing to so we can see what you mean? Y, need to add full sorting there. And multi-select so you can export multiple PBs at once.

Paper trading account has a separate login, and thus separate settings. You have to make sure that all the API settings are set correctly and match what is in MT. That includes Enabling API, making sure the Socket PORT is the same, and that it is not set to read only

Albert, I am not quite following what you did. Did you highlight 50 symbols and hit CTRL+H? what did you do exactly. I don't really understand exactly what the issue is As far as closing, I need to get the log file to see what the problem is. Do "Hist Backfill", not just regular intraday backfill

MT should be able to import the portfolios, but things like charts, alerts, etc - can't. you can run QT and MT side by side and configure things pretty quickly though.

that would be very easy to do in the new Paintbars. We did not yet release them (just have a handful of people testing) but should have them released at least in beta before the end of the month)
