the backup in QT was to a zip file. MT does similar thing. By default to Documents / Medved Trader / Backup though you can go to SETTINGS / APPLICATION / Backup and change that. You do need to manually import though. That is same as QT.

As far as the ribbon, that is done intentionally. You can however turn that off. SETTINGS / APPLICATION / General - Uncheck the box toward the end for "Ribbon Show/Hide Resizes window" We don't currently have an index panel. We will be adding it. QT did not have anything automatic. Not sure what you are referring to.

Adjust scale for previous close would only adjust to get the line showing, not the entire previous day. Is it by chance including the previous close for the previous day? Do you have the line set to show for current day only? What time period is the chart set to show?

MT will increase the space on Y axis to fit the price but it will not decrease it if the price changes back to 2 digits - at least not right away. Otherwise you would have constant adjusting which is extremely distracting.

it shows the actual price returned. It is not adjusted by the pricing formats in the settings. It has to match the actual price.

if you don't want the watermarks, why don't you just turn them off? You have extra space allocated on X axis. To remove, move your mouse over the X axis, right side. MT should highlight the X axis. When it does, click and drag to the left. That should remove the extra space. the dropdown list for chart templates just shows you the history of the last ones used. If you have duplicate names for the templates in the list, then you must have templates with the same name but stored in different locations. There is no way to directly modify the list (can't change history, right? ). However, if the underlying file is no longer there and you select the entry, MT will prompt you and will remove the entry from the list. Other than that, you can change the chart to the 10 templates you wish to use, Those will get added to the list, pushing the others off.

It is not supposed to do an overlap, though on Windows 10, the shadow of the window is counted as part of the window size, so MT intentionally overlaps the shadows, to avoid having a gap between windows. it makes the current settings of that indicator the default that will be used whenever you add that indicator to any chart. It is not tied to the template.

if you save a chart template and restore it, MT restores that template exactly. That is kind of the point of it. The default is used when you add an indicator to the chart

MT does show the most current value on the Y axis. What do you see there?

Added Research to the right click menu. It points to Yahoo. MT does needed symbol conversions when bringing it up

No, sorry, we have not been involved with supporting TDA API in 6 years. You would have to contact TDA for that. What exactly do you need to do? If it is just getting quotes, can help with that via MT and internal API here

We connect directly to the server, without using any DLL. The API is documented, though I don't know if they still make it available. DLLs support both market data and trading, but it has been 7 years since I touched them, so don't remember any details

the TDAASTX.DLL is ancient, 32 bit and has not been touched in a long time. We connect direct to the servers, basically what that DLL does. I really don't remember what was in there or how to use it. I would recommend connecting directly as well. Or if you can wait, wait for our API, which will be basically one API that you can use to connect to whatever sources MT supports. TWS API is a monster. That thing is Patches on top of patches. Its good for very specific programming (like yours) but nightmare to deal with for us, where we have to support all of their different security types, features. Symbols.
