  1. Jan 18? there is a Timeframe dropdown list on the VIEW tab - most likely it is set to US Markets. If MT format for the symbols is used, then MT would default it to Canadian. Which is why it is important to use MT symbol formats. Exporting - You could export as in the other post, then open that file with WinZip and look at the portfolio file. However, for your purposes, a simpler approach would be to: 1) highlight all symbols (CTRL+A or right click and select all) 2) right click and COPY 3) Paste into Excel. The first column will be the symbols 4) Make whatever changes you need there (mass search/replace) 5) click on the column header of the symbol column in excel to highlight and copy 6) Switch back to MT 7) Delete all existing symbols in the portfolio 8) Paste
  2. I need to get the log file to see what the problem is. Please do the following: go to FILE / Export Settings. Leave the checkboxes already checked, and also check LOG FILE. Export, then email me the exported file please.
  3. is the symbol in MT format? is the timeframe set to Canadian markets on the chart's ribbon - VIEW tab?
  4. That timeframe selection is portfolio specific. Basically, other than showing when the market opens/closes, it is used for Auto Refreshing sites (RBC, Yahoo, various AU sites, etc) to control when to auto refresh and when to pause (like at night or during holidays). For some, its simple. Other sources though, such as RBC and Yahoo are used for quotes on various exchanges. So we set the default to the most common and then let the user switch if needed.
  5. on the bottom of the portfolio window where it says Market Opens in.... click on it and change the timeframe there to Canadian markets.
  6. on the bottom of the portfolio window where it says Market Opens in.... click on it and change the timeframe there to Canadian markets.
  7. Do you mean RBC? On the bottom of the portfolio window, does it say market closes in.....? Did you enter the symbols into the portfolio using MT symbol format? With a :CA suffix?
  8. We don't list specific exchanges - there are too many of them. We specify the format. The TO is the Exchange. XRE is the symbol. so the MT symbol format is SYMBOL:EXCHANGE, or XRE:TO
  9. will put in some links to the help file within the program where symbols are entered.
  10. as far as I know, the download link is only on this page: Medved Trader Beta Instructions and Symbol Formats and that has the MT symbology defined. Help file currently has everything defined under "Symbology" (in the index). Need to link it under Symbol Format as well. the MT format with with either :CA or :TO will work with any quote source in MT that supports Canadian symbols
  11. I hope you are entering into MT as XRE:CA (or XRE:TO), right? Its better to use MT symbol format. As for the data, its a Yahoo issue: http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=XRE.TO+Basic+Chart&t=1d#{"showArea":false,"showLine":false,"showOhlc":true,"lineType":"bar","range":"max","allowChartStacking":true} If you set it to Bars, and set it to max, you get back exactly what MT is showing. Switch the symbol to MT format, then try backfilling with Google
  12. 1) you don't need to uninstall anything. and your settings should be backed up by MT. Go to My Documents / Medved Trader / Backup folder and make a copy of the most recent file there PRIOR TO the update. (or just copy all of them) just in case. 2) I need to get the log file to see what the problem is. Please do the following: go to FILE / Export Settings. Leave the checkboxes already checked, and also check LOG FILE. Export, then email me the exported file please. And, what security software are you using?
  13. I believe IB supports AU trading, so they would be the only ones supported that have integrated trading for ASX markets. We are working on another source though. Just had to put stuff on hold in order to get some other stuff out the door so we can release.
  14. the highlighting was mike
  15. Ah that. That is just MT highlighting the axis. Sort of like row highlighting, but on charts.
  16. Depends for what. In general, the cooperation of the broker, or at least them having a public API certainly helps, and we do require that for implementing integrated trading. For quotes, we can implement snapshot quotes with just account access in many cases. Though we have done streaming before without broker cooperation, that is drastically more complicated, so we are not willing to do that at this time. Which broker are you asking about?
  17. do you have a formula somewhere?
  18. Johnny, right now we would rather not mess with the watermark (time constraints). You can turn it off, or you can make it less noticeable by changing it's color to be something closer to the background color, thus making it less loud.
  19. what do you mean by hidden?
  20. MT remembers settings, so just closing and opening chart wont do it. You added space on the X axis. Remove it: Click and hold the left mouse button on the X Axis and move to the left.
  21. max # of backfill days is max 20 for Yahoo. The max is datafeed specific. The max for total # of days on the chart is on SETTINGS / CHARTS / GENERAL screen.
  22. 1) The reason you have to manually hit it is because that forces full backfill. Auto backfill only backfill from the last point MT knows a backfill occurred. (expectation being that the backfill source # of days doesn't really change often). You can clear all data and then backfill all. 2) Yes, it should automatically update either from the quotes you are getting or with auto backfill. 3) Lets say you backfill today, then 10 market days from now - MT will now have 30 days. Also, there are sources that can backfill a lot more than 20 days. IQFeed, TD Ameritrade, Stockwatch and others
  23. wait a sec, I am confused - on historical chart if you select to draw a Alert trendline - It already draws horizontally right from the moment you click
  24. drawing horizontal trendlines is actually very easy - hold down the SHIFT key while drawing. Will look into it though.
